9 yearsSomebody rang me claiming they were from the "Federal Investigation Bureau," saying I had all these charges with the IRS that I had to sort out straight away. When I tried calling back, they were shockingly rude. I asked them to take me off their calling list and said I’d reported the number already. Then the woman, sounded Indian, told me her “delete button was taken off her keyboard or something, so she couldn’t remove my details.” Afterwards, she just hung up on me - not once, but three times in a row. Total SCAMMERS!!Federal Investigation BureauIRS9 yearsI got a call from someone with a really thick accent saying they were investigating my social security number, name, and address for federal crimes. They left a message telling me to ring them back or else they’d press charges against me. Felt pretty intimidating to be honest.9 yearsAbout an hour back, I got called by the exact same number. I just chuckled and ended the call after a few minutes. They kept asking me to confirm my address, but I wasn’t having any of it. The guy spoke so fast with a really strong accent, I barely caught what he was saying and honestly just lost interest. Feels a bit off to think the government would hire outside help to collect taxes. Nope, not for me! Total scam, avoid it!9 yearsHello, So today I noticed I got a few missed calls from this number I didn’t recognise (240-200-9760). They left a voicemail, a woman speaking but her accent was really strong and hard to understand. I caught something about an investigation department. When I tried calling back, the line was full of static and again the lady with the heavy accent spoke, but what exactly she said wasn’t clear. Has anyone else dealt with this number before? Would appreciate any info!9 yearsThis number rang me three times, I ignored the first two calls but finally answered on the third. A man with a really strong Indian accent claimed he was calling from the IRS, saying my Social Security Number was being investigated for tax fraud. He said they’d sent me various documents but I hadn’t replied, and that I was about to have a warrant issued for my arrest. I’ve always been punctual with my tax returns, so I knew this was rubbish. I asked him to tell me my SSN, and he couldn’t. You’d think an IRS agent would know that off the top of their head, right? His excuse was that it was confidential and couldn’t be shared over the phone. Yeah, right! I played along for about 10 minutes because I was waiting for a bus and had nothing else to do, then ended the call. They never rang back, so I guess they realised they couldn’t pull this one on me. Just a reminder folks, THE IRS WILL NEVER CALL YOU. Fact. Hope these fraudsters get nabbed soon.IRSIRS WILL9 yearsGot a call from some bloke claiming to be from the IRS sayin I owed taxes and hadn’t filed. When I asked who they were and which office they were calling from, they just went silent and hung up. They rang me from three different numbers. Total scam, don’t fall for it!IRSSubmit Your Own Report (024 0200 9760)
