Idiot me actually called back the first time, and there was a voice message claiming I’d won £50,000 and asked for some info, so I just ended the call. Now I’m curious how much money that’s ended up costing me...

Just saw 12 missed calls from the Central African Republic, then a few from Portugal and now one from Moldova popped up too. The first time I got a ring, I called back but realised it was from the Central African Republic and hung up straight away. The phone did actually ring and some kind of automated message picked up. Honestly, I’m quite anxious about what could come next! It's really stressing me out. How do these folks manage to get hold of my number, and loads of others, I wonder?

I've noticed a rather concerning rise in these types of calls here in the UK lately. It appears that con artists are using fake international numbers-this particular one seems to be from Africa-and reaching out to unsuspecting folks. Their tactic is to lure people into returning the call, which can end up costing a fortune. It's definitely wise to stay vigilant, everyone!

Got a phone call that lasted just a quick 3 seconds before they hung up. My phone actually showed the number was from the Central African Republic, which made me not pick up. Funny thing is, my mate's uncle got a call from the same number that very evening, and it was just as brief on his end too.

Looks like loads of folks are dealing with this too, judging by the comments here. I woke up to about eight missed calls all through the night from numbers supposedly in Portugal or Africa. I’ve gone ahead and blocked these numbers for now. Next step is to get in touch with my mobile provider to find out if there’s some way my number got leaked or shared without me knowing.

Got a call at 00:58 this morning. I didn’t pick up since I wasn’t near my phone, but honestly, I wouldn’t have answered. The number showed up from the Central African Republic, which is obviously clueless about UK time zones - ringing someone in the middle of the night like that is just daft.
