I recently got an email from [email protected], which claims to be associated with National Credit Management Limited. It’s about some outstanding toll invoice linked to LINKT MELBOURNE. Just to let everyone know, this is a complete scam.

I got a message from this number today claiming I owe money for a Linkt account that I believe doesn't even exist. I returned my e-tag ages ago and I've been using Melbourne's toll roads for more than a year without any issues. There's no way I'm going to contact them to settle a bill that I’m not convinced I owe!

Fraud Alert! Totally dodgy! Beware, it's a con!

Absolute muppets! Sending texts demanding cash.

Should they genuinely be a collection agency, I’d appreciate it if they could forward a physical copy of the invoice to our address. This way, we can ascertain its legitimacy, and once we’re confident everything is above board, we’ll settle up without a hitch.

I've asked for this to happen, but surprise, surprise, I haven't received a peep from them! It seems far simpler for them to keep firing off automated messages rather than actually addressing my request. Until I hold that bill in my hands, there’s no chance of any payment from me!

Clearly, this approach seems to be effective for them. But why not simply dispatch a physical invoice through the post to the individual who used the toll? You know, a good old-fashioned paper bill for them to settle up? Oh, but I suppose that might be far too complicated, wouldn’t it?

When they rang me up, they requested my full name and date of birth. I declined to share that info, and they weren’t able to tell me where they were calling from. All they mentioned was it was related to “tolls,” whatever that means!

Got a rather curious message after a ring from this number: "Dear (……………..), There's a pressing issue we need to chat about. Do reach out to us at 1300 729 959 at your earliest convenience, and please mention the reference number 8505459. Our team is available from 8:30 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. I eagerly await our conversation. Cheers, Cody."

I've received two text messages from this number insisting that I need to settle a payment for NCML and bizarrely asked me to use my date of birth as a password! They provided a payment link: www.ncml.com.au/payment?t=83817445. They also mentioned that I could contact NCML at 130729959. The second text didn't specify an amount, but the first one claimed I owed them £65.86. I've looked into this with Linkt, and they've confirmed that there’s no record of any unpaid fees.

They wouldn’t reveal their identity until I verified who I was. What a farce! I simply ended the call.

I wouldn’t bother picking up; it’s just a debt recovery firm representing a toll road operator trying to pin me down for overdue charges that I haven't even incurred.

Looks like this is a debt recovery firm linked to Govia's toll roads. You can also reach out via ‭+61 424 821 549‬ if needed. I informed them that, as they acquired the debt without my awareness or agreement, it now falls squarely in their lap.

Please ignore this call. It appears to be a TOLL company chasing unpaid fines and they leave behind a reference number. I decided to give them a bell using a different line, both with my number hidden and another phone. An Indian chap picked up, if I heard correctly, and started probing for more information. When I queried the necessity of sharing further details, he mentioned it was regarding some outstanding fines linked to the reference number. I thought it was a tad amusing, so I enquired about the date and time in question - he managed to pull something out of thin air. I chuckled and explained, “Good sir, I’ve never driven a vehicle in my life!” I could have gone on, but he simply hung up on me.

Without a doubt, these are debt collection agents chasing after unpaid toll charges linked to Govia.

I got a text from this number telling me to pay my Citylink toll invoice and to ring 1300729959, quoting a reference number of 7452781. However, the official Citylink contact is supposed to be 132629. Plus, when I tried to log into their website, it didn’t recognise that reference number at all. Something feels off here!

It seems you've encountered a debt recovery service that specialises in gathering outstanding toll charges. If you settle your toll bills, you can steer clear of any hassle. They should’ve also dropped you an email containing further information, so do take a peek at your inbox, folks!

I received a text that said, "We need to talk about something important. Kindly ring 1300 729 959 and mention reference 7367897." It came from the number 0408 654 667. Clearly, this is a scam! If it were legitimate, they would have used a proper automated message format that includes identifiers like "TELSTRA" or "GOVIA" etc. No doubt about it, it’s a scam! As a side note, I replied courteously suggesting they engage in a rather acrobatic act with their own anatomy!

Just shortly after I connected my phone to the Westfield complimentary WiFi, I received a rather peculiar call. It may well be just a random occurrence, but I've never had this number ring me before. Quite strange, wouldn’t you agree?

I got a rather cryptic message from this number, saying that 'we' have something imperative to chat about, along with a reference number to mention. Naturally, I replied with a cheeky, ‘who exactly is this "we"?’ but haven’t heard a peep back since. Given I have some unpaid tolls, it's not the most comforting thing to receive - could be a collections matter, but fingers crossed it’s all just nonsense.

This isn't a fraudulent operation; it's actually a debt recovery agency working on behalf of Govia for their toll services.

Absolutely, their arrogance is off the charts! It’s quite amusing - Indian gentlemen pick up the phone insisting they're based in Melbourne. It’s a classic case of toll fee debt recovery, but I’m really sceptical about their intentions. Quite dodgy if you ask me!

I received a call today from a number that was withheld, and the chap on the other end, who had quite a thick Indian accent, claimed he needed to discuss an urgent tolling issue. When he requested I verify my personal information, I politely declined. I mentioned that it's standard practice to send correspondence for these kinds of matters, yet all he offered was a phone number and a reference code to mention. He identified the company as National Credit Management Ltd (NCML). Curiously, when I inquired about which vehicle this pertained to, he refused to elaborate due to "privacy concerns". Seems rather dubious, doesn’t it? I can’t help but think that getting a call for such things is a bit off.

I've been getting calls from this number repeatedly, urging me to ring back concerning something of great importance. It's rather baffling why phone companies aren't able to track down these dodgy numbers and identify the individuals behind them. Surely they have the means to do so?
