Got a message from this number earlier claiming I owe money on a Linkt account. I’m pretty sure I never had one though. I actually returned my e tag ages ago and haven’t used any Melbourne toll roads for over a year. No way I’m calling them to sort out some payment!

If these people really represent a debt collection company, they should post a physical copy of the invoice to my address so I can check if it’s genuine. Only then would I be willing to pay it.

I’ve already asked for this, but no reply so far. Seems like it’s just easier for them to keep sending automated messages that I won’t pay up, instead of providing any actual proof.

Clearly, that method must be doing the trick for them. Why don’t they bother posting a proper paper bill to the person who owes the toll? Could make it easier for them to settle up, wouldn’t it? But nope, guess that's just too much hassle these days!

They called me and wanted my full name and date of birth, but I didn’t give it. When I asked them where they were from, all they said was something about "tolls," but wouldn’t say any more. Felt really dodgy to me.

Got a message like this after a call came from this number: Hi (……………..,) There’s something urgent we need to talk about. I’ve gotten two texts from this number asking me to pay NCML and said to use my date of birth as my password! They included this link: https://q1z.cc/XBqiM. For payment, they gave www.ncml.com.au/payment?t=83817445 and also suggested calling NCML at 130729959. The first message was asking for $65.86 but the next one didn’t say how much.
I’ve double-checked with Linkt and they don’t show any outstanding debts.

They wouldn’t tell me who was calling until I proved who I was. What a load of rubbish, I just ended the call.

I’d say just ignore those calls - it’s a debt collector from some toll road company chasing me for toll charges I don’t even owe. Such a hassle when it’s not your problem at all!

A debt collector rang me from Govia toll roads, and they were texting from +61 424 821 549. I told them straight up that they bought the debt without me knowing or agreeing to anything, so it's on them now to sort it out.

Don’t pick up if this rings, it’s a toll firm chasing unpaid penalties. They give you a ref number to scare you. I called them back from a different line with caller ID blocked. The guy was Indian I reckon, kept pressing for info and asked what it was about. When I asked the details like day and time, he just made something up. I told him I don’t drive and never have, then just kept saying so. Eventually he just hung up on me.

Got a text from this number telling me to sort my CityLink toll by calling 1300729959, quoting reference 7452781. Thing is, CityLink's actual contact is 132629 and when I checked their site and put in that ref number, it didn’t show up at all. Seems dodgy to me.

These folks are from a debt collection company, they chase up unpaid toll charges. If you kept up with paying your tolls, you wouldn’t be dealing with this hassle. They probably sent you an email with all the info too, so make sure to have a look in your inbox.

I got a voicemail that had my full name and some sort of reference code. When I tried to ring back, the call just wouldn’t go through. The number showed up as private, so I have no idea who it was.

I got a text from the number 0408 654 667 saying "Please call 1300 729 959 regarding an important issue. Quote ref 7367897." It felt dodgy straight away since legit companies usually send these msgs from names like "TELSTRA" or "GOVIA" showing on your phone, not just a random mobile number. So yeah, pretty sure it's a scam.

I replied nicely telling them to shove it where the sun don't shine.

Got a message from this number saying ‘we’ve got an important issue to talk about’ and gave a reference number. I asked back ‘who exactly is we?’ but no reply. I do have some unpaid toll fees, so it kinda freaked me out thinking it might be a debt collector. Fingers crossed it’s just nonsense though.

Got a ring from a private number today, bloke sounded Indian and claimed it was about some urgent toll issue. He wanted me to verify my info but I said no way. I even asked if they don’t normally send letters first, and he just threw a phone number at me with a reference code to mention. Said the company was National Credit Management Ltd (NCML). When I asked which vehicle it was about, he refused to say citing privacy. Feels dodgy to get a call out of the blue like that instead of a proper letter.
