My mum’s phone bills have been ridiculously high lately. When I looked into it, she’s been paying somewhere around £20 to £30 every month for over a year now for calls that supposedly happen early in the morning, last about 45 seconds, and cost £2.15 each. The thing is, she hasn’t actually made any of these calls. If I ever managed to catch the scumbags behind this, who prey on vulnerable elderly folks, I wouldn’t think twice about sorting them out with a baseball bat. Absolute cowards.

This number keeps showing up on my phone bills every month, and my provider refuses to refund me for these calls. I can’t block the number on my phone either. When I contacted them, they claimed it might be something to do with my modem and suggested I keep resetting it because it could be some hacker messing about. They did offer to send an engineer, but if they find nothing wrong, I’d be hit with a £100 fee! As someone living on a pension, that’s not something I can really afford, especially if it turns out to be nothing. Saying I never dialled these numbers doesn’t seem to carry any weight with them at all!
