My other half needed to get in touch with HMRC about changing our tax code. He just googled for their number and picked the first one that popped up. Turns out, it was a dodgy 09 number that connected through to HMRC. Today the bill landed - £43 for a call that lasted about 19 minutes! Date: 28th Sept 10:53 Number: 09037049005 Call duration: 00:19:07 Service charge: £1.00 Total cost: £43 Proper rip off just for trying to sort something out.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying I’d get bailiffs on me and court if I didn’t send money straight away from my bank. Total scam, watch out!

Got a call from this number and found out it's actually a service linking you to HMRC, but be warned, it isn't free. They charge £3.60 for the connection plus another £3.60 per minute, not counting whatever your own provider adds on. If you need to get in touch with their support team, you can ring 03330302322 or email [email protected]. Just something to be careful about before you pick up!

Hey there! I just checked my recent phone bill and noticed some strange charges. There’s a couple of calls from 09037049005, each costing £3.83, which we definitely didn’t make. Plus, another one from 09037 047144 came through, charging us £35.45 for a 9 minute call that wasn’t ours at all. Does anyone know if I can put in a complaint with my landline provider? Surely they should be responsible for stopping this sort of scam from happening.

Apparently, there were two calls made from my son's mobile on 11th March 2022, each one lasting around 11 minutes and 5 seconds, racking up a bill of £90.60. The thing is, my son swears he didn't make these calls. I've already contacted Sky about it and they've been informed. Plus, BT have been notified as well and it's all been reported on their end.
