3 yearsOn 22 July 2023, I dialled what I believed was Northumbrian Water to report a water outage. It was the first result that popped up on Google. Turns out, I was actually calling some directory service which charged me £3 just to connect. Not happy, but eventually I got put through to NW, where the call was free. Then came the shock - my mobile bill showed a charge of over £14 for a 5-minute call, supposedly to a free number. Around £6 of that, as far as I can tell, was my network provider’s fee. Don’t forget to contact your phone company and ask for a refund. You should also notify Utilia and make a complaint to 'Action Fraud'.
