3 yearsOn the 22nd of July 2023, I accidentally dialled what I assumed was Northumbrian Water, as it was the first result that popped up on Google. To my dismay, I ended up connecting with some sort of directory service that slapped a £3 fee on me just to forward my call to NW. The call itself to Northumbrian Water was supposed to be free! When I received my bill, I was horrified to discover I'd been charged over £14 for that brief five-minute conversation - £6 of that from my phone provider for exceeding my plan, plus the £3 charge. It’s absolutely gutting that what should have been a simple call to a free number has left a massive dent in my monthly allowance. I attempted to find that service on Google again, but it's nowhere to be seen. The number I dialled appears to be a Premium rate, and the time on my bill shows my call at 09:20, even though I made it at 08:20, suggesting it may have been routed overseas before connecting me to NW. So, do be cautious! 🤨Northumbrian WaterGoogleNW3 yearsI've noticed some unexpected charges on my bill for 090 numbers, which is quite baffling, as I certainly didn't make any calls to those!
