Got hit by another con, this time someone pretending to be Hermes asking about a collection for an Amazon parcel. Took me £6 in a matter of seconds. Why on earth isn’t there a proper customer helpline without those crazy charges? Tried sorting it online but no luck. In the end, Amazon had to sort out an alternative way for the pickup.

I only have a landline and I don't have "caller display" on it. So, I was really shocked to see two charges of £6.20 each on my BT bill for two calls that lasted only 18 seconds and 11 seconds, and both of them happened within two minutes of each other on 14th October 2020. I had no idea that I could be charged for simply answering a call. I tried looking for help and ways to contact BT through their website and the telephone number 0800 111 4567, but I found them all to be unsatisfactory because none of the options provided by their computer systems covered my specific query. If I had known that I would be charged for picking up my phone, I would have immediately blocked the number using the BT service of 1572. But unfortunately, by the time the bill arrived a week or more later, it was already too late.

Hermes failed to deliver on the promised day. I ended up paying £13 for a call to this number, which was completely pointless. I reckon this oughta be reported, but I'm not sure where to. Feels like a scam to me. I looked up the first digits, 09011, and they connect to Nigeria, so I guess the calls get routed there.

However, throughout the process, they continuously claimed that their data was accurate. On my July 20th Virgin Mobile bill, I noticed two charges amounting to £6.63 and £7.76 from the number 09011190900. Interestingly enough, these charges are labelled as "Scam" or "Fraud" on my mobile. However, Virgin insists that I made these calls, but that's not the case. Whenever I receive suspicious calls like this, I simply delete them without listening to them, and as a rule, I only make calls from my saved contacts. To mitigate this issue, I have already blocked the number responsible for these charges. Nevertheless, I anticipate that they may try to reach out using a different number.
