I received a phone call from them, but I missed it. So, I decided to call them back, but unfortunately, no one answered. The problem is, I was still charged £1.50 for the call. I'm about to get a new car and I am dreading the process of adjusting my insurance because of what others here have been charged. But I really need to sort it out.

I got a massive shock when Hastings Direct took over £600 from my bank without any explanation. Last year, I made a one-off payment for my daughter's car insurance, and somehow they thought it was fine to take the same amount again this year, even though she arranged a completely different quote. The phone call to try and sort it out ended up costing me about £20, and when I tried emailing them, they claimed the phone number I called wasn’t theirs. During the call, I asked multiple times for someone to check it out and call me back, but they just kept saying they couldn’t hold on much longer. Honestly, their customer service is awful. I’m definitely going to take this further, but if you need to contact them, I’d recommend sticking to emails rather than wasting money on calls. It’s cheaper and at least you have a record of everything.

I’m so annoyed with Hastings Direct. They were absolutely useless when I tried to make a claim, and then they had the nerve to charge me more than £30 just for attempting to deal with it. Once my policy ends, I’m definitely switching. Properly disappointed with them.

I called that number as well and ended up getting billed £22.73 for a call that lasted around 40 minutes. Most of the time I was just stuck listening to “your call will be answered shortly” over and over while they said they were really busy. After 41 minutes, I finally gave up and hung up. I’m a customer of theirs, but definitely not renewing when my policy is up. What a total scam. Honestly, they should be reported to some sort of watchdog or regulator to get them checked out. Just a very unhappy customer here.

We had to call this number to talk about my daughter’s car insurance policy. What’s really annoying is they never said anything about extra charges for calling that line. The number was just listed as the one to ring for making changes, cancellations, or renewing the policy. It felt like a sneaky trick because it pushed us to renew anyway! So basically, you're stuck having to use that number no matter what :-/

I'm appalled by the way Hastings Direct car insurance helpline charged me on two different levels for contacting them. Firstly, I was hit with an access charge, followed by a service charge. Unfortunately, I had to ring them three times when attempting to update my policy for a new car. Despite pointing out their excessive charges, there wasn't an option for existing policy holders to request a call back. To make matters worse, they haven't provided any explanation for these additional costs on my phone bill. On top of all this, there's also an administration fee applied when changing the policy. The call lasted a frustrating 44 minutes, most of which was spent dealing with an unhelpful representative who struggled to ask basic questions about whether my car was a coupe or a tailgate hatchback. It's incredibly annoying and I believe these charges are being sneaked in through the back door - truly shameful behavior from Hastings Direct.

I've just noticed a charge of £26 on my phone bill linked to this number. It claims the call lasted for an astonishing 1 hour and 46 minutes! I'm baffled, as I can't think of any conversation that would have gone on for that long. Can't seem to find out who this number even belongs to, either!
