My mum, who’s quite elderly, called Damart two times, and just now I got her Virgin Media bill - turns out those calls set her back £9.11. It’s shocking, really, especially since she’s been with them for ages. From now on, I’ll sort her orders online. She was only trying to make things easier for me, but I won’t let her get taken advantage of at 90 years old.

Got a call from 0871 200 9000, no clue who was trying to reach me. They rang but hung up right before I could pick up. If it’s a company or something, you’d think they’d leave a message, don’t they? Not sure if they even have an answerphone set up. Bit annoyed about it all, to be honest.

I just saw this and I’m really shocked that Damart can charge us just for calling to order from their new Autumn catalogue. I was under the impression that businesses had to offer freephone numbers for customer service. It's mad that they can still charge for this, and I'm surprised the consumer protection agencies haven't stepped in to make them provide a free contact number. Damart. I called them about an order I made. Asked them to email me instead of ringing, as calls are pricey for me. They said they’d email me in the future if I have any questions. The woman on the phone was really polite and helpful, sorted out my query quickly. I’ll keep an eye on my phone bill when it arrives next month to make sure I wasn’t charged too much and will ask for a refund if I was.
