Some bloke with an Indian accent called me, said his name was Adam Sharp. Claimed he worked for BT and had spotted some problems with my internet. He wanted me to switch on my laptop so he could guide me through fixing it. I had a hunch it was dodgy, so I asked for his full name and phone number. After that, I searched the number online and stumbled upon this website. Safe to say, I’m not even thinking about ringing him back!

Got a call off someone claiming to be from BT Openreach, said his name was Robert Burton. Total scam!

Got a call from someone saying he was Robert Burton, supposed BT Openreach engineer. Did a quick search and turns out it’s a common scam, nothing legit about it. Be careful!

Got a ring from this same number earlier, some bloke who said his name was Robert Burton. He had a really thick foreign accent and his English wasn’t great. Claimed to be from BT but got quite rude when I said I’d look into his info first and call back if everything checked out. Can anyone confirm if this is legit or just another scam?

someone called me from this number, with a thick asian accent, said his name was eric. he claimed to work for BT and gave me a bt id 8600052, plus the postcode ec1 a7ag. he then read out a really long number, like 32 digits, and told me to type it into a box after pressing ctrl and windows key on my keyboard. when i asked for his last name, he just hung up on me. definitely suspicious.

Someone rang me claiming to be from BT but their English was really poor and they were hard to follow. They said they knew I’d been having trouble with my router, even though it’s actually from TalkTalk, not BT. They went on about issues going on for a few weeks now. I told them I’d been away and hadn’t even switched on my computer for more than two weeks, but they brushed it off, saying it didn’t matter if the PC was on or off - they could still spot the fault. The guy said his name was something like “Charlie” and seemed to have an African accent. I told him I’d ring BT myself to check and call back if it was legit. Can anyone confirm if this is a scam? Cheers.

I’m really happy I looked up this number on here first. I came across loads of different BT contact numbers for support or to make a complaint, so I figured I’d better check them out before actually ringing any of them.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT tech support, but it was just a complete scam. They gave me a number to ring, but it was all a con. Be careful!
