11 yearsReceived a call, but they just disconnected without saying a word.12 yearsIt appears to be a call from the accounts department of AOL broadband. I received a rather automated message from this number, prompting me to reach out to the typical AOL contact number. Upon doing so, they assured me that my account status was perfectly fine. However, I was then met with a follow-up call from this same number, which I chose to disregard. Shortly afterwards, I received a letter indicating that there was an unpaid balance linked to my AOL broadband account, which directed me back to this number. They are apparently only reachable from 8 in the morning until 8 in the evening during weekdays, and from 9 until half past five on Saturdays. Given that I had only recently changed my bank account, resulting in a hiccup with the direct debit, it seems legit. It strikes me that AOL could really benefit from better coordination among their various departments.AOL13 yearsI trust this information will be of assistance, Steve. The number in question belongs to AOL Broadband Service. If you have any concerns, feel free to ring 08444995555, and they should be able to provide clarity regarding the call you received and the purpose behind it. I had my own worries following a similar call, which prompted me to investigate. It’s possible they’re trying to reach you because direct debit payments might actually go through a debit card that could have expired. They’re still able to process payments, mind you. If you log into your AOL broadband account online, you’ll be able to see if it indicates ‘rejected payment’, which would suggest your card has lapsed, and they’re just attempting to update your information. I’ve switched to paying by direct debit myself and ended up saving £1.99 each month! They also managed to present me with a rather appealing deal for my account. Best of luck!SteveAOL Broadband ServiceAOL13 yearsI've received a call from someone claiming to be AOL, insisting that I have an outstanding debt. The thing is, I settle my bills via direct debit, so that just doesn't add up. Could anyone shed some light on whether this is a scam? I'd really appreciate the insight. Cheers, Steve.AOLSteveSubmit Your Own Report (0870 087 5057)
