This number called me with an automated message claiming to be from AOL broadband's accounts team. I rang AOL's normal customer service line and they told me everything was fine with my account. But then I got another call from this same number, which I chose to ignore. Shortly after, I received a letter from AOL broadband stating I had an overdue balance, listing this number as the accounts department number. The letter mentioned their opening hours as 8am-8pm on weekdays and 9am-5:30pm on Saturdays. It all looks legit, especially since I'd recently changed my bank details and the direct debit hadn't cleared. Honestly, it feels like AOL really need to improve how their departments communicate with each other.

Hope this info helps, Steve! I got a call from this number and was a bit unsure, so I looked it up. Turns out, it’s from AOL Broadband customer service. If you’re concerned, try ringing them on 08444995555 - they explained everything to me. Apparently, sometimes your payment method expires (like your debit card), and if you pay by card instead of direct debit, they’ll call to sort it out. You can check your AOL broadband account online to see if a payment’s been declined - it’s usually some message about rejected payment if that’s the case. Since then, I switched to paying by direct debit and save nearly £2 each month. Plus, they offered me a decent deal when I spoke to them! Fingers crossed it’s the same for you!

Somebody phoned me saying they were from AOL and that I had an outstanding payment. Thing is, I pay everything on direct debit so that can’t be right. Can anyone tell me if this is a scam? Cheers, Steve.
