We've recently received a call from what claimed to be Abbey on our home phone. We didn't provide any details, but when we reached out to Abbey directly, their team assured us that their fraud department would never request personal information over a recorded line. So, please, DO NOT share any information through this service. It was clearly a scam!

The number belongs to Santander's fraud division, and it's the real McCoy. You'll be guided through a series of options via an automated voice, where all you need to do is hit the right buttons. There's no need for you to chat or divulge any sensitive information like your account or PIN details. I received a brace of calls almost back-to-back on my home phone and mobile. I declined both, then decided to look up the number online. Given that Abbey Bank was a plausible scenario, I reached out directly to Santander, the company overseeing it all, and they expressed a desire to scrutinise some transactions on my account.

I received a call from Abbey National, as they wanted to confirm a significant transaction on my account. Just the other day, we arranged a standing order for our rent, and the phone rang with this number to ensure that the transaction was legit. Good on Abbey for being cautious, I suppose!

Absolutely legitimate! We recently arranged for a hefty payment and just wanted to confirm it. The only thing they required from us was a snippet of our date of birth as a sort of multiple-choice query to authenticate the transaction. However, when we reached out to Abbey for some clarification, the chap on the customer service line had no clue what we were talking about! Quite baffling, really!

Seems fairly credible at first glance, but Abbey's customer support claims that this sort of inquiry is farmed out, and this particular firm doesn’t operate round the clock. They've given us the main contact for their fraud department - 0845 603 3509 - and we plan to follow up with them tomorrow. It’s par for the course with Abbey, to be honest. If it turns out to be a ruse, it’s rather concerning how these individuals obtained our full name-quite unusual, I must say-as well as our home and mobile numbers, date of birth, and the precise amount of a significant transaction from today. Oddly enough, they didn’t seem interested in any of our passwords or other sensitive numbers.

Received a call from this number just as we turned off the phone. A voicemail lasting about seven minutes was left, but it was completely silent. The day before, we arranged a new direct debit for our rent, which might explain a connection with Abbey. They’ve been quite reliable in the past, so credit to them. However, it does beg the question as to why the caller didn’t leave a proper message! If it isn’t Abbey calling, it’s quite unsettling to think that someone may be keeping tabs on my bank account activity.

Absolutely right! I needed to confirm the payment for the account we set up a few days ago for a sizable number. It seems that most of these folks request a snippet of the birth date as part of their "multiple-choice" security checks to validate the transaction's authenticity. Still, when we contacted Abbey to inquire about these calls, the chap in customer service seemed completely baffled by it all!

On Tuesday, the 12th of October, I received a rather peculiar four calls in a row, each insisting that we press any key. Quite frankly, we don't dabble in pressing keys for unknown callers. If they’re unable to have a proper chat with us, we simply aren't interested. I did manage to have a conversation with someone named Abbey via a number that customer service had supplied. They claimed everything seemed normal with our account but said they would redirect us to the scam department. After waiting for about twenty seconds, I lost patience and hung up. Honestly, I’m still feeling a bit baffled by the whole thing.

Received a couple of calls earlier today. The second one was from Abbey, utilising an automated system to confirm a peculiar transaction on our bank account from the day before. We suspect it's the real deal. Fingers crossed it is!

Absolutely trustworthy and a protective measure with Abbey. They don't request any passwords from you, but they do expect you to confirm details related to any unusual transactions on your account. You should only start to feel uneasy if they ever ask you for account numbers or passwords. Remember, no legitimate financial institution would ever make such a request.

I recently received a voice message that went something like this: "Hello, this is Abbey. I've got significant information regarding your bank account. Please press any key to proceed." Turns out, it was a fraudulent number! We reached out to Abbey directly, and they confirmed that no such call was made to us. We shared the number with them, and they've said they'll report it to the authorities.

We received a call from this number, claiming to represent Abbey, but they requested to confirm my date of birth. Banks consistently advise that no legitimate entity will ever ask for personal information like that. Therefore, we chose not to engage with the call further. Based on the comments I’ve read, it seems suspicious, especially since I had arranged a standing order just a day prior. This really doesn’t feel like the safest approach to handling such matters.

Recently, I received three voicemail messages that appeared to be from Santander, but they were directed at someone I'd never even heard of. The moment we attempted to call back, we were prompted to verify the number, and it turns out they mistakenly believed we were the person they were trying to reach. It's quite astonishing how these scams are still making the rounds!

We find ourselves in agreement with the person who mentioned that if this were authentic, the callers would surely provide more clarity regarding what the ring is about. We reached out to Santander's customer service, and it turns out they had no knowledge of this number either.

I find myself in alignment with the person who pointed out that, if this were indeed accurate, one would expect these callers to be far clearer regarding the type of call they're making. We got in touch with customer service at Santander, and it turns out they didn’t have a clue about this number.

Our landline just rang, followed shortly by our mobiles, and it turned out to be a recorded message from some service. We contacted Abbey, but they were baffled as to why their fraud squad would be reaching out to us. Next, there was another call for my partner on the landline, and soon after I received one too. We decided to answer this time and confirmed a portion of our date of birth. However, the moment they asked for the rest, we swiftly hung up, though oddly, the call didn’t disconnect immediately. This all feels rather dodgy to us.

I recently received a rather suspicious voicemail stating, "This is Abbey, I have some crucial information regarding your bank account. Kindly press any key to proceed." Turned out, it was a bogus number! I reached out to Abbey directly, and they confirmed that they hadn’t contacted me at all. I’ve since shared the number with them so they can pass it on to the authorities.

I’m quite puzzled by this bothersome anonymous caller. It’s strange how when I truly need important calls, they always seem to know exactly what to say. Yet, when it’s a mystery, they leave me completely in the dark. Quite frustrating, really!
