We don't subscribe to Virgin Media and possess a former landline number that was redirected to our mobile. No company has our mobile number, and we never utilise the old landline number on any documents. It's quite baffling how these individuals acquired this information. Could it simply be a case of random dialing? I strongly advise against returning their call, as that’s precisely what they’re after. When you respond, they tend to hang up on their side. Naturally, I was tempted to ring back to discover who it was, but I refrained from doing so.

As a receptionist, I’m constantly bombarded with calls from this particular number, and I must say, it’s quite a nuisance. Oddly enough, they never seem to ring back after I miss them. If it were genuinely important, surely they’d have the courtesy to follow up?

Honestly, it seems wisest to just disregard it. We're on an ex-directory list, but still using a Virgin Media cable line. It appears that Virgin might be the thread tying these calls together.

About a fortnight ago, shortly after setting up my phone line with Virgin, I received a call. It was a recorded message regarding credit card debt and loans. Instead of opting to speak to someone by pressing five, I hit nine to stop any further calls, and the line just went silent. Regarding the complaint concerning Pollyanna and Ofcom TPS, I've also had a chat with my telephone provider about blocking any incoming calls from 08,448 numbers. However, BT has decided to decline the request for that service.
