Same thing happened to me, they called once and then hung up, left a missed call on my phone!!

Put on my block list.

They rang me up but then just ended the call. Pretty clear they were hoping I’d ring back on some expensive number to see who'd phoned.

I reckon it was some annoying spammer - they cut off before I even got to pick up.

I picked up and it was one of those recorded messages saying they’d been trying to reach me. Something about pension or PPI. The number was blocked.

Got the same thing as others, just one ring then they cut off. Left a missed call on my phone. If you get called by this number, best block it as soon as you can.

I had exactly the same experience. My phone just showed a missed call with the number on screen. Definitely not worth bothering with. I've blocked the number now. Seems like a scam trying to trick you into calling back some costly premium line.

Like others, they just called once and never again. I guess since cold calling is banned, the onus is on you to return the call.

Big thanks to everyone saying these calls are dodgy - scammers ring you, hang up, then wait for you to call back so they can charge you for it! Do NOT ring this number back. I spotted a missed call from this 0844 number on my phone and was about to call back, but thankfully I checked online first and saw the warnings. Normally I wouldn’t bother returning calls from unknown numbers, but this one made me unsure. If it’s really important, they’ll leave a voicemail, right? Lately, these types of calls have been hitting our landline too, so we finally bought an answerphone to avoid losing our minds. Our family knows to shout if the machine picks up so we can get to the phone if we’re around. Those accident insurance salespeople just don’t take a hint. No matter how nicely you ask them to stop calling, they just keep pestering until you get fed up and swear at them. That little answering machine has saved me so much hassle and kept me calmer! This number showed up as a missed call on my phone today, even though it didn’t actually ring. I decided to search it online and the comments I found were pretty useful. I’m going to block it now.

I was puzzled about this number for a bit, expecting a call but no clue when or where it'd come from! Later, I spotted the call came through at 9:55pm on Saturday, 1/8/15. I’d been right at my desk on the computer with my phone just beside me and definitely didn’t hear it ring. Yet, there's a missed call showing up. Seems it's just like others mention, probably some auto dialler or they’re just testing to see if your phone picks up. I’m chucking it on my blocked numbers now!

It’s obvious this is just a scam hoping you’ll ring them back. Why on earth don’t the phone companies just block or shut down these numbers? They should hold back any payouts to them and stop billing us as well. You’d think it’s straightforward enough to sort out.

I saw a missed call from 0844 648 0250 just now when my phone buzzed briefly in my pocket - thought it was probably a Skype notification at first, but actually it was just one ring. Looks like a total scam, be warned! Caller ID showed 08446480250.

Got a call just once from some annoying lot, then they stopped. I rang back and ended up speaking to some accident claims firm. They said I’d been in an accident sometime recently and still needed to make a claim. Sounds like typical accident claim hounds to me. Do yourself a favour and block this number on your phone.

I keep receiving these calls over and over. I block one, then a number that looks almost the same rings me next. They only buzz twice and no voicemail left. Definitely some sort of robocall.

Avoid returning the call! This is a premium number that only rings once purposely. When you get curious and call back, you end up paying an expensive fee just for answering. Seriously, dont call them back! Just block the number straight away and the others that look alike.

Heard from them just once. I was using my phone’s data, must be that sites are grabbing your number. I was checking out Google finance. Probably trying to get folks to download some app like "who called me" or something.

Never return their call! These are premium numbers that ring once and then trick you into calling back out of curiosity. When you do, you end up paying a hefty fee just to find out who they were. I’m meant to be on a no-call list but I still get just as many marketing and claims calls as ever. I even bothered filling out the online form to try and stop them, no luck. Makes me wonder if these muppets actually use the no-call list as a guide to who to bother with their annoying calls. I’d never hand over my personal info or buy anything from some tosser ringing me out of the blue. If I need something, I’ll sort it out myself and decide who to trust - it won’t be one of these irritating wankers.

I picked up a call from someone about a PPI claim and chatted with them briefly. A little while later, I noticed they'd called me back but I missed it.

I’ve had calls like this too where they claim I never made a claim for some accident. When I ask them which one they mean - was it the time I lost a leg, an arm, or maybe my bloody mind? Then they start sending texts saying there’s £5,000 ready to be paid out for an accident I had. I usually reply asking them to send a cheque, but they never bother to answer back.
