Received a message at 2:27 this afternoon from 07456 280265 saying "we've been trying to reach you. It's really important to talk today. Please ring 08445718130 and mention reference 779193.” What gave it away as a scam was that they didn’t use my name or say who they supposedly were. Blocking the number they called from seems pointless since they just keep switching their digits.

Really odd how there's a comma after 'you' and then a capital letter starts the next phrase; plus they left out the word 'that' after 'urgent'. Pretty clear they didnt pass basic English!

If it was something important from a bank or utility company, they'd say who they are and probably ring you directly, not just send random messages. Pretty sure it’s connected to a pricey phone number if you decide to call back - don’t get caught out by this scam!
