I rang them back and a bloke with a weird accent started giving me a bunch of info about himself. Then he claimed I was being looked into for dodging taxes amounting to over £3,000. I was gobsmacked at first, but then I asked when this was supposedly supposed to have happened. The dates he gave were during the time I worked for a big firm, which I mentioned to him. He just kept blaming me for not keeping an eye on my tax payments. I told him to send any official stuff by post and ended the call.

Got a voicemail from 08443570438, said they were from hmrc and told me to ring back right away because apparently there’s a lawsuit against me. Felt really fishy to me.

I got a voicemail from an automated voice claiming to be from HMRC, saying there was some kind of legal action and I had to give them info. When I rang back the number, they said I was under investigation for not paying my taxes properly.

got a call from some automated voice saying it was hmrc, said i owe loads of money. they wanted me to ring them back immediately. yeah right, hmrc would never wait around for you to call back like that!

Just like loads of others have said, I got a recorded call from HMRC saying there’s some major tax fraud going on with my NI number. They told me to call them back right away. Seemed dodgy to me.
