Got this dodgy call too - first it popped up on Viber, then straight away on WhatsApp, and right after that as a normal phone call where they left a voicemail. They claimed to be from HMRC and warned me about legal trouble if I didn’t ring back. Honestly, don’t pick up at all, and if you do, just end the call quick. Also, block the number on your phone and make sure to report it to the official organisation they're pretending to be from.

Got a call from 012042396625 and 0844 351 0831. The person kept saying the call was being recorded and told me not to hang up. They asked for my National Insurance number, full name, and phone number. They claimed there was a tax fraud issue from 2007-2012 and that I owed £7000 to HMRC. I told them I was struggling to understand because of the language barrier, and they said they’d transfer me to someone else, so I just ended the call. I’m going to forward the info to the fraud department email now.

Got a missed call from 08443510831 on my phone, so I called back. When I did, there was an automated message saying I’d ran out of mobile data and needed to make a payment. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.

0844 351 0831 This guy is heartless and downright nasty. He rang my elderly mate who told him she's a pensioner, but he still kept threatening her with police arrest and court appearances. She ended up giving him her bank info. Luckily, she called me straight away and I told her to contact the police and her bank right away, which she did. The bank checked and said no money was withdrawn and then changed all her account details. The bank staff were really helpful throughout.
