I’ve just had a similar experience to everyone else on this thread. The number 08442840485 reached out to me, and I can confirm we’ve never taken any loans either. Apparently, we’re supposed to owe them £3,800! Who are these individuals, and how on earth did they manage to get our contact details? With all the folks they're trying to con, I'm quite convinced that this number won’t be in circulation for much longer!

To claim, simply reply with YES to this message. Cheers!" Honestly, it’s astounding that anyone would fall for such a scam. But I can't help but wonder, how on earth did they get hold of our numbers? Has anyone ever had the urge to confront these con artists and let them know exactly what they think of their dodgy tactics?

Sales of compensation are completely illegal and infringe upon UK compensation regulations, carrying penalties that could reach £1,000,000 and possibly a two-year prison sentence. Whenever we receive messages similar to these, our first instinct is to look them up here. Especially since the individuals behind them tend to make some rather absurd assertions! If only we could respond to them in the same manner!

Received a text from 0784837775210 on 8th February 2011 at 10:52: "Free message: Important! Our records suggest you might be eligible for £3500 due to mis-sold loan insurance. To make a claim, please reply YES to this message now or call 08442840485." Just to clarify, we've never had any loan insurance, and our attempts to trace this company using saynoto0870.com have proven fruitless. We'd recommend dismissing this as a scam and deleting the message.

The number provided to call back is 08442840485. We're considering tracking down the owner of this 0844 number to their address. I wanted to share this information here so it appears in search engine results for anyone else looking into it.
