I received a message claiming to be from Barclays asking me to verify a £1500 transfer. When I rang back to check if the caller was genuinely from Barclays, the person suddenly ended the call.

I got a text about trying to transfer £1500, which wasn’t me at all. I looked up Barclays number on their official site and gave them a ring. They told me to just ignore the message. After that, I called the number from the text and told the person on the phone they weren’t Barclays since I’d just spoken to them. Then the bloke just hung up on me. Watch out, this is definitely a scam!

So I got a text from a number pretending to be Barclays, and it ended up costing me almost £6. Any idea how I can get that number blocked or stopped? Seems like a total scam to me.

This number just sent me a message pretending to be Barclaycard, but it's defo not their real number - the text and number both seem spoofed. I'd say never ring the number in the message; always stick to the phone number printed on the back of your card.
