I've had loads of calls coming through from the 0843/0845 numbers, all equally annoying. They just ring once or twice then cut off, probably hoping you'll ring back and get stung with a fee that they make money from. It's been going on for yonks and no one like YPS, Offcom or EE seems able to do anything about it. Just the other day I had three calls like this in a single day. The supposed blockers or whatever they have in place to deal with this are absolutely useless.

Since around mid September, I've been getting weekly calls from this number and also one that’s really close, 0843 832 0100. Someone on here suggested a brilliant tip: sign up to block annoying calls like these, and make sure you register with the Information Commissioner’s Office too. Received my first call from this firm today, and I’ve already added their number to my blocking app - might be worth you getting something similar. If you’re getting these calls on your landline, BT do a phone - the BT6500 - which lets you block unknown, overseas, and particular numbers. I’ve actually bought a couple of refurbished ones recently; while I appreciate the concept, I reckon these phones are at least 15 years old in design. The screen, ringtones, and build feel pretty outdated by modern standards. I’ll use them for now but plan to get a newer set down the line.

This number kept calling me over and over again and would leave a quick message saying 'press 9 to opt out'. I didn’t want to press 9 in case it cost me a fortune, so I looked up the 0843 prefix and saw it was a local rate number. I rang it back from my house phone. The voicemail mentioned something about a marketing firm connected to Africa. I’m definitely going to block this number now.
