I've come across a rather persistent cold calling operation based in Swansea, operating under the names of A Better Life Ltd or A Future Life Ltd - to be honest, I can't quite recall which. Legally, they're required to reveal how they obtained your number, but when I inquired, they couldn't point me in the right direction. Typically, one would expect that these companies acquire numbers when individuals opt in by ticking boxes that say something along the lines of 'agree to be contacted by third parties about…'. Unfortunately, it seems that your information is often sold off in the background, making it quite the task to trace its origins. The whole situation feels a bit dubious, doesn't it?

Absolutely dreadful lot, I must say. It appears to be just a tiny clique who condescend to everyone as if we're all little schoolchildren, completely unaware of things like PPI (one would assume they’ve never tuned into commercial radio). Their attitude is quite unbearable, really. The name behind this endeavour is Christopher Ross White, residing at 13 Moorland Green, Gorseinon, Swansea SA4 4QF. If you're in the neighbourhood, perhaps consider giving him a ring or even popping round for a visit? It could certainly add a bit of excitement to his day!

I posed a few questions and, if I'm honest, their responses raised a few red flags. They insisted on a £400 up-front deposit to kick things off, which struck me as rather suspect. I held back all my personal details, playing along for a bit before I finally told them I simply couldn’t afford it. The chap kept pressing the issue, so I made my excuses and hung up. THEY RANG ME TWICE OVER DIFFERENT WEEKS, AND I PICKED UP BOTH TIMES. FIRST, THERE WAS AN AUTOMATED VOICE SAYING I SHOULD CLAIM A REFUND, THEN A PERSON ASKED FOR MY LAST NAME. WHEN I ASKED "WHO IS THIS?" THEY JUST ENDED THE CALL IMMEDIATELY. I’M NOT PLANNING TO RING THEM BACK SINCE I’M NOT OWED ANYTHING, AND I’VE NEVER WON A LOTTERY BECAUSE I DON’T PLAY. NO CLUE HOW THEY GOT MY NUMBER, AND I’D LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO STOP THEM FROM RINGING ME AGAIN.

When I inquired about the name of the company, the individual on the other end mentioned something that sounded a bit like "Arcor," but before I could get any further details, they abruptly disconnected the call. I received an automated call and promptly ended the conversation after just a couple of words. I've saved this number under my "PPI Nuisance" contact in my phone, so I won't be caught off guard again. At this point, I've accumulated around ten different numbers all linked to this one contact, which is rather frustrating! 😒

I had a chat with a lady named Katie who mentioned she was involved in handling refunds at a firm called Rothlaw. I kept her on the line for a little while, saying I’d ring her back later. She kindly provided me with the contact number 01792 970160. To be honest, it’s infuriating how these time-wasters operate - they’ve been a daily nuisance for me, so I thought I’d turn the tables and waste a bit of theirs too. Not surprisingly, none of the supposed companies or numbers mentioned actually exist - I’d advise you to block them straight away without a second thought! The caller came from 0843 724 5897.
