Got a call from 08437240461, picked up and silence on the other end, no one said a thing. Very strange!

I’ve been getting calls from this number almost daily this week, at least three times a day. Definitely some sort of cold call.

always get recorded ppi calls from numbers beginning 0843724, but cant seem to block them on apple ios. anyone else found a way around this?

They keep ringing me from loads of different numbers about PPI claims, it's so annoying. Honestly, I wish they'd just leave me alone for good 😠

It doesn’t block those 'Unknown' numbers straight away, but as you add more dodgy callers over time, you get a handy list to ignore. Since early February, I’ve been getting hit with these annoying calls almost daily. Eventually I just blocked the number on my iPhone ’cause it got too much. Honestly, I wish I had the patience to mess with them before hanging up - like leading them on and then telling them off. Or maybe a better plan would be to use one scam caller to pass the buck to another, sending them in circles. Imagine if all these dodgy companies could be locked away somewhere together and just... well, wiped out!

This number just called me out of nowhere. Sounded like one of those PPI or something annoying like that telemarketers. I just hung up straight away and blocked it. It’s weird coz I rarely get these cold calls on my mobile. Really curious how they ended up with my number in the first place. Caller ID just said unknown.

Got a call from 0843 724 0461 saying something about my "misrepresentation of PPI cover." As soon as I asked who it was, they just hung up. Tired of these annoying calls, so I’ve blocked the number now. Proper harassment.

Got two calls within the past 30 minutes, just left them be as it's probably the usual PPI rubbish.

Got a call from this number today, missed it but of course no voicemail left. Called back straight away and as soon as I caught the scammy “PPI” chat, I cut off. Cheers to the person who mentioned iPhone’s number blocking feature, didn’t know that was even a thing on these new phones. Wondering how they even got hold of my digits though. So I was using my Galaxy S5, right? I saw a missed call, pressed and held on it, then went up to the top right corner and chose to block the number. Let’s see what comes of it now. The caller was just some total arsehole anyway.

Got a call about some PPI claim, but I’ve never even taken out a loan. The bloke was asking for my name - I refused, told him he’d should already have it. When I said it’s pathetic he spends his time making useless prank calls, he just chuckled. Then I asked why I’m even on their list and told him to remove me, he laughed again. Just after I’d blocked a mobile number that was sending PPI texts, I got another call from an 0843 number. I didn’t even answer since those numbers are usually dodgy. Marked it as Unknown and blocked it straight away.

I put them on the TPS list, so they shouldnt be able to ring me again - it was some PPI finagling.

This number has been calling me loads over the past few months. I never pick up calls from unknown numbers, so they’re just wasting their time trying. I just block and ignore them.

I put Cyanogen on my phone and set it to block all calls from anything like +440843.* Seems to do the trick against annoying numbers like 08437240461.

I always say that the chat is being recorded for safety reasons and they normally just end the call straight away. I really don't get how this kind of business is still allowed to operate - haven't seen a single nice comment about them. The people who call are just annoying as heck!

Got a call from them today and tried that, but no luck. It's really frustrating and awful from the firm that uses these callers. They keep ringing and pestering you, and it looks like there’s no way to make it stop. I've even reported them to the ICO.

Had the same annoying robocall about that PPI stuff today. I’ve already made a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), that’s who you’re supposed to report 08437 numbers to.

Got a right annoying call even after I said no to marketing calls. Had just ordered some curtains to be delivered, and the minute I paid up, my phone starts ringing. The kicker was that I had to give them my mobile number to complete the purchase! Proper frustrating.

Got a call from one of them again, but just let it ring out like usual with 0843 numbers. On my Android phone, I've set up a contact named "0000- Blocked" and link all these dodgy numbers to it. That contact is set to send calls straight to voicemail. I've built up a decent list, about 20 of these so far, and it's really cut back how often these annoying calls get through. Got a call from some PPI scammer with a recorded message telling me to ring back on some 0843 premium rate number. Seriously, don’t bother returning the call even if you want to tell them where to stick it - you’ll get charged, and they’ll mark your number as live to flog it to who knows who, especially if you spill any info. Absolute scam rubbish.

I didnt pick up initially, but when I rang back on the company landline (which was private), someone said it was a crucial automated message about my flight. Apparently, if my flight had been delayed or cancelled at any point over the past 5 years, I might get up to £550 compensation. Problem is, I haven’t even been on a plane in the last five years, let alone go abroad. Seems to me they must’ve got the wrong number or summin lol. The number was 08437240461.

On Monday the 9th of February 2015 at 13:37, I got a call from someone in Cambs. The time was exactly 1:37 in the afternoon when they rang me up from that area.

I've gone ahead and blocked this number now.

Got one of those recorded messages again saying "we've been trying to get hold of you about your PPI". They must ring me like 3 or 4 times each week or more. I keep blocking the numbers, but it honestly makes no difference - they just never stop calling!

Reminds me a lot of that other number (08437240459) which was cold calling me in the evenings not too long ago. Honestly, these jokers should be reported to the Police so they can shut ‘em down. Got a recorded call about PPI, told to press 5 to chat to someone or 9 to opt out. Figured pressing 9 just proves the number’s active, so I went for 5. A very chipper bloke came on, asking if I hadn’t claimed PPI because I didn’t think I was eligible or if I just never got around to it. I told him I’ve never had a product with PPI, to the best of my knowledge. CLICK. Phone cut off. Thought “what a tosser”, so I rang back. This time a recorded message about flight delays in the last 8 years promising up to £500 compensation popped up (yeah, right). Same options: press 5 or 9. Pressed 5, but was told no-one was free to talk, just leave a message with my number. No thanks. These folks are dodgy as hell, best to block their number. Or if you’re bored, next time they ring, feed them a load of bollocks and keep the conversation going. Let them think they’ll earn a fat commission from a refund on a massive loan you supposedly took out while self-employed. Then at the end, have a laugh calling them mugs (if a woman’s on the line, just mess with her kindly - there aren’t many female scammers anyway, probably ‘cause they’re smarter). When the revolution comes, these scammers will be at the front of the queue! - from a bloke who deals with PPI and flight delay scams.

Totally get what everyone’s saying about this number (08437240461). They’re proper annoying, ringing my mobile multiple times every day. If I answer, I end up paying for the call! But if I accidentally pick up and it’s a person shouting crazily at the phone, I start shouting right back and then burst out laughing like I’m losing it. Weirdly, they never call me again after that, which I find quite amusing... well, at least I do!
