Been getting nonstop calls about some PPI refund. Tried pressing 9 to opt out but it just made them call even more, like six times a day now. When I tried to talk to them, they just hung up on me. Caller ID shows Unknown. Proper annoying!

For over a year now, I’ve been getting calls from this same number on both my landline and lately my mobile, and I just don’t answer anymore. It’s been tough to resist, but I’ve tried blocking the number and even wasting their time once or twice - neither works. The pesky messages pile up on my voicemail, so I end up deleting them regularly. Just recently I noticed a new number popping up, starting with 0638. Usual calls are all the same rubbish - PPI claims, recent accidents, debt write-offs. One bloke called Andy on 17 November said it was from SBS Marketing based in Bishop Auckland. But then another caller, Phil, on 19 November mentioned the police had traced them to a London address, which is a bit confusing. I suspect these guys might be hiding behind some automated call system and the only way out is to change my numbers, go off the directory and not share details with any companies. I doubt blocking will make a difference so I haven’t even bothered trying it yet. Just to see if I can get to the bottom of it, I’m going to send this message over to SBS and see if they respond. Loads of calls come through about ‘my recent crash’ so I play along saying, ‘Oh, you’re aware of it then? Funny thing is, I have no idea who bumped my car from behind. When I came round, there were these odd-looking blokes staring down at me, talking in some language I didn’t recognise. I reckon they shoved something in my upper back near the neck too. Apparently, they’re watching everything I do now, who I chat with, even have cameras behind my eyes recording all I see. Next thing I know, I’m back in my car parked on the roadside. Though only two hours had passed, it felt much longer. These green fellas were actually quite nice, seemed like they were planning to help the planet soon but were just gathering data at the moment.’ Sometimes if they keep me on the line long enough, I throw in some more bits!
