From what I can gather from the feedback, it appears they're employing some sort of random number generator. My advice? Don't engage. Simply ignoring the calls should eventually do the trick. If you pick up, they’ll realise your phone line is active and could potentially flog your number to other shady salespeople, which will likely lead to an uptick in these bothersome calls. Additionally, when you receive those dodgy texts advertising pills for… well, you know what I mean, sent from a five-digit code, they operate on the logic that if you reply with "stop," it confirms that your number is in use, allowing them to pass it on to others. So, unless you know the sender and trust them, it’s best not to respond to such messages.

They also mentioned that pressing button 9 would halt any future calls. Frankly, this set off all sorts of alarm bells for me. About two decades back, there were similar dodgy calls that ensnared numerous people across the UK who unwittingly pressed button 9 on their landlines. The consequence? Their phones became unwitting conduits for international calls, and they were left with hefty bills to pay. No, thank you-I'll pass on this one!
