Phone number ☎️ 08434871844 👆 is reported as a premium rate phone number linked to the Jobcentre, causing significant upset due to high connection and on-hold charges, often exceeding £15 and sometimes reaching over £70. Many users express frustration about being misled to believe it was a free or local call, only to face large bills while seeking vital support, especially those on low incomes or benefits. Callers frequently report extended wait times, dropped calls, and difficulty speaking with an advisor, with no relief from the unexpected costs. This practice is widely criticised as exploitative and unfair, with calls requested by official sources, making it an inappropriate financial burden on vulnerable individuals seeking assistance. Complaints urge for urgent review and alternative contact solutions.

I got charged £19.02 just for waiting on hold with Jobcentre Plus. Can't believe they have a 55p per minute access fee! Absolutely ridiculous!!!

Got my bill today and it's like twice what I usually pay... checked it out and noticed there was a single call to this number. Lasted 46 minutes and cost me 25 quid! The worst bit? They ended the call, so I never even got to speak to anyone! I’m absolutely fuming about this - feels like blatant daylight robbery by those government tossers.

They stuck me with a £20 charge plus VAT just for being on hold for half an hour.

I tried reaching the job centre by phone since my emails kept going unanswered. Honestly, why do we put up with this nonsense?

My lad tried calling his nearby job centre twice, but he was stuck waiting on hold for more than half an hour each time. Now he's landed with a phone bill exceeding £78! It’s absolutely shocking that these numbers are anywhere near premium rates - feels like they're just milking folks who can’t afford it. Proper daylight robbery. Also, the job centre itself was pointless. Seriously, when will the people in charge actually support those of us keen to find work?

I searched online for the Jobcentre contact and ended up calling this number. After about half a minute of pointless automated messages, I just hung up. Later, my phone bill showed a charge of £16.84 plus VAT. It’s clear this number is a scam, probably left online to trick vulnerable people who can least afford these hefty fees! I’m definitely going to raise the issue with both O2 and the Jobcentre.

I thought calling this number would be free since it said so, but just got my phone bill and I'm being charged £10 for that call. It’s really frustrating to find out I have to pay that much when it was meant to be without charge. What a disappointment.

It’s absolutely shocking that the DWP expects people on low incomes to pay through the nose for premium rate calls. Feels like nothing more than daylight robbery to me.

I've been out of work since hurting myself and waiting for surgery, so I called this number looking for some support to stop me from becoming homeless. Can someone explain what this is all about?

Totally a con. I don’t get why someone without a job has to pay expensive phone charges just to call the job centre. The waiting time is ages too - and it’s costing you loads!

Really annoyed that my daughter called this number and now we're stuck with an outrageous bill. Whoever's making money off this should have everything taken away, no question.

My daughter, who’s a single parent, had to call this number regarding her income support. She couldn’t get through the first two times, but managed on the third. Then, out of nowhere, she got hit with an extra £21 charge on her phone bill after being on the line for 40 minutes. Honestly, I’m fed up with how things are in this country. The politicians are fully aware but just let it happen. Disgusted with it all, I don’t think I’ll be voting anytime soon, seems like there’s no difference between any of them anyway.

I’ve just had a rather troubling experience with a number provided by the job centre. Honestly, steer clear of it! It's a premium rate line and now my son is facing a whopping £40 charge. Honestly, it’s beyond ridiculous. They ought to be more mindful, especially knowing they’re dealing with folks who are struggling financially. It’s utterly shameful! What on earth were they thinking? To top it off, his phone might soon be disconnected because of this mess. It's just outrageous!

I must advise against reaching out to this number regarding job centre inquiries. My son has racked up a staggering £40 on his phone bill from these calls. It's utterly appalling; he’s now facing disconnection due to this excessive charge. They really ought to be more considerate, especially when dealing with individuals who are already financially strained. Why on earth would they instruct the vulnerable to ring a premium rate number? It’s quite disgraceful, frankly. There’s simply no justification for such practices!

My son got this number from the job centre, and now we’ve got a phone bill for £40! It’s just shocking. They’re well aware they’re contacting people who’re struggling financially. So yeah, the phone’s gonna be disconnected now.

I needed to call the job centre to sort out some details for the tax office and ended up being charged more than £15 for the call. Is there anyone I can report this to? I don’t want to risk calling that number again and getting hit with another ridiculous fee.

i was tryin to ring my nearby jobcentre but ended up getting through to this number instead, which was some premium rate thing that charged me way too much!! honestly, there should be laws against this. i’ve got a job, but even so, paying that fee really felt unfair. imagine folks on benefits who need advice and then have to fork out for the call - it’s just not right and probably really stressful for them.

It's absolutely shocking that the job centre's helpline costs so much to call. I needed to get in touch about a family death, and after ages on hold, I gave up because no one answered. When I checked my phone bill, it was nearly £20 just for that call! It makes me so angry thinking of people out of work with no cash trying to reach them. Who's making money from this nonsense? It’s just not right and should be stopped immediately. Honestly, I can't believe this is allowed.

Beware, I checked the number for my nearest job centre and it actually sends you through this one which charges crazy high fees! Total rip-off if you ask me.
