Got a text about £1200 being debited from Barclays with a 0 at the beginning of the number. Totally a scam, so I just deleted it straight away.

Got a text from barclaysbnk saying they’d set up a direct debit for £1200 from my account. I never authorised it so the message told me to ring this number “o8 43 289 4570”. Just to be clear, it starts with an "o" not a zero and the same goes for the end. Feels really dodgy and unprofessional, I’m sure it’s a scam.

Got a text claiming to be from Barclays card fraud saying they wanted to check if I'd arranged a direct debit for £1200. Definitely a con, best not to respond or ring them back.

Got a text saying, "Did you just arrange a direct debit for £1200? If not, ring us now on 08432894570 Barclayscarefraudteam" but it was from barclaysbnk (not the real barclaysbank). Watch out, it's definitely a scam. If you fancy it, give them a buzz pretending to be Ben Dover with account number 99969696 - maybe that'll throw those fraudsters off!

Like a few others here, I got a text saying something like “hi, did you just create a direct debit for £1200? If not, ring us on 0843 2894570. Barclays care fraud team.” I checked with my bank and they said it’s definitely a scam, so best to ignore and not reply.

I did a quick search before calling back... turns out those zeros in the number were actually the letter O's! Also, just to clear up, I’ve never had an account with Barclays!

Received a message from this number claiming to be from the ‘Barclayfraudcareteam’, asking if I’d authorised a direct debit for £1800 and telling me to call back if not. I phoned them and was left waiting ages. Eventually, a bloke said they’d cancelled the payment. But when I asked how they even managed to set up the debit without my permission, he hung up on me. I double-checked with my bank and it turned out to be a total scam. The call was to an expensive number and ended up costing me £12. Honestly, watch out and don’t fall for these awful scammers.
