I usually get texts from Barclays whenever I make a payment. On 26/05/16, I got a message saying £4000.00 was moved from my account and if I didn't do it, I should ring 08432893194. I phoned straight away since the number matched the one I always got legit alerts from. I was on hold for more than 30 minutes. Got annoyed and just hung up. Now I’ve looked at my bill and that call ended up costing me £18.00.

Got a bunch of sneaky texts over a few months, like one mentioning some letter with "ALCA" (what a joke), then another about a mortgage with Barclays that we never even had, and finally a message about a Standing Order to someone called DANNY for £47.60. I guess these scams only trick the more vulnerable, and there must be some profit for them to keep sending these messages, but honestly, you’d have to be daft to fall for it. Honestly, if I caught these lot (bet they’re not even local), I’d give ’em a proper lesson. Just saying.

I keep getting texts about a £4000 transfer, also messages from 'HMRC' saying I have a £260 refund, but its all rubbish. Dont trust any of it. First they send letters you can check online, then suddenly loads of folks, some probably criminals fresh out of jail, ring up sayin your son or someone had an accident and they need cash urgently. It tricks older people a lot, so its really important to warn them about what calls or messages to ignore and keep them safe.

Just got a message claiming to be from 'Barclays' - I dont actually use them for banking but i do have their credit cards so thought id check it out online first. Turns out its a scam, trying to steal your banking info. Dont respond - dont call back - best just to delete it straight away! Replying could cause you trouble. (unless you want to send it to Barclays fraud team so they can deal with it :-) )

Received a message and called back. Waited on hold for about 15 minutes so I thought it must be legit. The bloke gave me my account details and told me to enter my card info through Pinsentry. Foolishly, I went along with it!! He then said our accounts had been compromised and promised to shut them down, telling me to log out of online banking. I was almost scammed out of nearly £10k; all he needed was the final Pinsentry digit to finish the job.

Got a txt from this number saying it was Barclays and that someone was trying to move a big sum from my account. They told me to reply 'y' if it was me or ring them if it wasn’t.
