10 yearsWhile I was watching a live cricket match on my laptop, suddenly an alert popped up with a woman's voice telling me to ring a number shown on the screen. It claimed it was a virus warning and that by calling the helpline, they could sort the issue. I kept talking to the guy on my landline who said he’d help me fix it remotely, but at the same time, I quickly searched that number using my iPhone. That’s when I realised it was a scam. Without hesitation, I hung up on him. Later, I phoned my nephew who works in IT and he confirmed that these calls are just to gain access and hack computers.
