I recently received a correspondence from Halifax indicating that I was owed a refund. As it turns out, they were right-I was indeed due some money. A relative had sent me funds and mistakenly used the details of my closed bank account. So, the sum they mentioned was accurate, and I ended up receiving a cheque in the post within just three days. Therefore, I can assure you, this is definitely NOT a scam letter!

I've received yet another dodgy correspondence claiming to be from the Bank of Scotland, asserting that I've received an overpayment. Yes, I do hold an account with them, but it's pretty much dormant with hardly any balance or standing orders.
I decided to ring the number, masking my own, and the individual on the other end was exceedingly courteous and seemed quite professional. However, I'm convinced this is a scam... so please don't be taken in by it!

I received a rather dodgy letter purporting to be from the Bank of Scotland. Although I do hold an account with them, it's not something I actively use.
When I got a call from someone asking for my date of birth, I flat out refused to provide it - definitely sounds like a scam to me.
The letter itself was quite shoddy, printed on plain paper in black and white. What baffles me is how they managed to obtain my address in the first place?

Today, I got a letter that claimed to be from Halifax, saying I needed to ring them regarding a refund cheque. It also queried whether I’d like the cheque sent to a third party. The document was on what seemed like Halifax’s official letterhead, yet it raised some red flags for me-particularly because it was in black and white and the phrasing didn’t quite sit right for a reputable bank. The number included was the one to ring for confirming the details. Honestly, it looked incredibly convincing, a proper scam that could easily mislead a lot of folks.
