Not sure why so many are claiming it’s a scam. This is definitely Lloyds collections centre’s number. I rang Lloyds main line myself to double check. They also posted letters to my home and already had all my info, without giving anything away. It’s a proper Lloyds number for sure.

I got a message on my new phone number warning me that I was close to going over my arranged overdraft, and that extra charges might apply. Thing is, I’d only had this number for about half a day, so there was no way it was linked to my actual bank details yet. (I switched numbers because my old one was flooded with spam calls.) What’s weird is, I don’t even have an account with Lloyds. The only explanation I can think of is maybe some Lloyds customer accidentally put my number down, or it’s just a scam trying to catch people out. I called back the number and it sounded like a real banking line, but then they started asking all sorts of personal info like my date of birth, which obviously didn’t match anything since I have no account. That’s when I just ended the call.

I received a message urging me to get in touch with this number about a loan that was supposedly concluding. When I attempted to call, I was met with an automated system that insisted on my account information and the three-digit security code from the back of my card-something I flatly refused to provide. Eventually, I managed to speak with an advisor, but honestly, they were of no assistance whatsoever. I keep getting messages on the same date each month alerting me that I'm in overdraft. They've now switched gears and are sending me texts saying I need to call a number regarding my account ***ending in those final four digits***. The funny part? I don’t even have an account with Lloyd’s Bank! I've attempted to block the number, but it doesn’t seem to show up anywhere. Sadly, it looks like the best option for now is just to disregard them.

Today I got a voicemail saying: "Kindly ring us back at 0808 145 0371 regarding your bank account ending in 2838. Thanks." Before calling that number though, I rang a Lloyds number I found myself. They told me the original call was genuine. So I phoned the first number and it was definitely Lloyds. Turned out I was £6 overdraft. Got it fixed now. Frankly, I was baffled, especially since Lloyds had previously mentioned they didn’t have my new mobile number on file and I’ve yet to pop into a branch to update my details. So, how on earth did I get a text from them? It turns out, it’s a scam. Just had a chat with a Lloyds customer service representative who confirmed that the number in question isn’t theirs at all. They advised me to block the number, disregard the message, and always use the contact number found on the back of my card for any inquiries in the future.

I rang the number but didn’t feel comfortable sharing any info straight away. So instead, I called Lloyds using a phone number I know is legit and had a chat with them. They said it was a proper number linked to their collections team, but they couldn’t explain why I’d got that message. Replying to Niall - Banks always ask you for your details since they can’t recognise who’s phoning in. It’s not a special number just for you. Even the genuine number I rang asked for my information. If you’re unsure, best not to phone the number you got. Ring the main customer service line and talk to them - they can check your account properly and let you know if there’s any issue.

I got a call from this number, which turned out to be Lloyds Bank. I figured it was some scam like other posts suggested, so I just ignored it. Later, I got a letter from Lloyds saying they’d been trying to reach me and to ring back on that same number. By then, I’d been overdrawn for over a week, ending up losing about £80 in charges. Definitely won’t be quick to doubt numbers like this again.
