BARCLAYS SCAM ALERT So convincing, they spoke with a proper UK accent and knew loads of personal stuff, which made it seem real. My elderly mum actually gave them a code from her pin sentry, but later felt something wasn’t right and called me. I logged into her banking app and noticed an unfamiliar device had logged in, so I blocked it straight away, luckily stopping them from doing any harm. We rang fraud, thankfully no money gone and everything's safe now. The 0800 number they gave sounded legit at first, but when I googled it, it definitely showed up as a scam.

Received an automated call purporting to be from the Fraud Department of Barclays regarding an alleged unauthorised transaction. The message instructed me to "press 1 to be linked to the department." I followed the prompt, but as soon as I did, the call cut off. Quite suspicious, don’t you think?

I almost fell for this one. The number they called from looked like a legit Barclays line. While on the phone, they sent texts pretending to be Barclays fraud team. They told me my card was frozen and to log into my banking app, then asked me to enter an access code so they could supposedly refund cash taken from my account. A few days ago, some bloke had me on the line for ages. I was pretty sure it was a scam, just wanted to see when he'd start asking for stuff like my PIN. He asked me to verify some info, I said I'd have to look it up on my online account (which I never even check), then I dropped the call. About ten minutes later he called again asking if I’d found the details he wanted. That was enough for me, so I ended the call and got in touch with the Barclays fraud department.

Picking up from my last post... About a week later I get the identical call again. Shortly after, the caller asks me for the first 8 digits of my bank card (apparently the last 4 can be found easily if a website's been compromised). I told them I wasn't comfortable sharing that info on the phone. The person responded that they couldn’t assist me without it. I then said I suspected it was a scam, and immediately they just hung up. There’s no way Barclays would behave like that.

I received a rather dubious call that pretended to originate from my bank, insisting there had been some dodgy activity on my debit card. Honestly, steer clear and don't share any personal details with them! When I mentioned that I would ring my bank directly, they insisted I hold while they 'confirmed' the authenticity of the number. Got a call from this number on the 28th, pretending to be Barclays. Turned out they were fraudsters trying to con me out of £28000. Absolutely terrible and disturbing.

Honestly, watch out - the guy who called, calling himself Darren, sounded very convincing.

I answered the call and just said Hello but didn’t say anything after that. It sounded like a recording of a woman saying "Hello" and when I stayed silent she ended the call. The number showed up as Barclays but it felt a bit dodgy. I actually checked with Barclays later and they said it definitely wasn’t them.

Scam alert. They were fishing for my info. Kept pushing me to send money over and asked me to put in a long number into some robot system. Definitely dodgy, don’t trust these lot.

Someone rang me on this number asking for 'Mrs [name]', and when I told them nobody by that name lives here, they then asked for 'Mr [initial] [name]'. I tried to find out what it was regarding, but all I got was a mumble of rude words before they abruptly ended the call. They never mentioned which company they were calling from.

Got a ring from this number earlier and I’m pretty sure it was a scammer pretending to be someone else. I knew something was off when they asked me to give them my entire 5 digit banking PIN. I hung up right away and contacted Barclays immediately.

This number really belongs to Barclays, but some idiots have been using it to call me pretending to be from the bank and tried to trick me into sharing my bank info. I didn't share anything. I got a few calls - some were silent, others asked about account stuff, then they just hung up. Honestly, I'd be really careful if they ring you. If you need to speak to Barclays, just use the mobile banking app to get their number. That's the safest way to make sure you’re really talking to them.

I never pick up calls from unknown numbers that ain't saved on my phone. Like, if someone says they're from a company but the number isn’t familiar, I just ignore it. Thought it was some business call with that 0800 number, but if it’s truly a bank as people claim, they should really stop using that number. Banks need to understand, if people want something from them, they'll get in touch themselves - no need for pestering or constant nagging.

Seems legit to me, probably just a sales rep pushing for you to switch to a premium membership with a yearly charge. They start off all friendly and chatty, but then quickly move on to asking personal security questions. Honestly, you should never give out that kind of info to anyone who rings you unexpectedly. Be careful though, phone numbers can be faked easily. I've already told them off after they called me three times before, yet they tried once more today. So, I’ve flagged this number as 'harassment' and plan to update my marketing settings.

I usually don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t recognise, so when I got one on my mobile, I gave it a miss and looked them up here instead. A few days back I ignored a text from an unknown number too. Makes me feel a bit safer that way.
