THE NUMBER WAS FAKE !!!! They said they were from PayPal wanting my personal info. When I asked them to verify the email address domain (I manage my own domain and email), they said gmail.com. No way - this looks like a spoofed caller ID and they probably trick loads of people since most don’t realise caller IDs can be faked. I've blocked the number and reported it.

Said they were from PayPal. There was a weird pause right at the start which made me suspicious. A very polite woman then asked me to verify my personal info. That's when I realised it was a scam, so I quickly made up an excuse and hung up.

Got a recorded message saying my National Insurance Number would be taken away if I didn’t press a button. It sounded pretty convincing and they claimed it was from the Department of Work and Pensions. Watch out for this one!

SCAM CALLS non-stop! I stupidly replied "stop" to their texts, which I reckon just told them my number is live, and then they started sending really worrying messages about unpaid bills and stuff. I almost fell for it and was about to send money, but then I spotted a dodgy link in one of the texts - something like payipal[###] - obviously not Paypal. Luckily, I checked the number here and it confirmed my doubts. Seriously, block the number and report it to Paypal, they might be able to do something to get it banned. Just trust your instincts and stay cautious, folks! :)

DON'T TRUST any listings claiming this is an official PayPal number. I just checked with PayPal through my message centre and they told me straight up this number has nothing to do with them. Their advice was to just block it and ignore.

I got a call from what seemed like a PayPal Credit support centre. At first, I was a bit cautious and didn’t want to share my email over the phone. Later, I rang them back and provided my email but was careful not to give out much else. It seems eBay had automatically deducted £19.99 for seller fees from my PayPal Credit, and I’d actually missed a payment on it. After chatting with them, everything’s been fixed - they told me eBay won’t accept PayPal Credit anymore as a payment method and my balance is all paid off now. So yeah, the number is legit after all.

Got a phone call from someone claiming to be Paypal. They asked to verify the last four numbers on my card, and mentioned a payment I hadn’t made yet. The amount they said matched what showed up on my PayPal account exactly. I've paid it off now. Weird thing is, the call showed up as spam on my phone under the name Energy Recycle. Also, when I checked my bank statement, the pending transaction was listed as PayPal. Very confusing!

I'm pretty sure this isn't legit. Over the past week, I've gotten loads of calls from various numbers where the person on the line claims to be Paypal, including this most recent one. They keep saying it's about missed payments, which I don't have at all. I checked with Paypal myself, and they told me they'd never ask for personal info on calls like these. Best thing to do is hang up and call Paypal directly if you're worried. Definitely a scam, so just block the number straight away.

Someone rang up saying they were from Paypal and wanted my email before explaining what the issue was. I told them no way, I don’t share personal info on calls. They then told me to have a look in my email, and sure enough, there was a message from Paypal about a payment I’d missed. I reckon it really was Paypal, but I’m still not handing over any details on the phone. Best to be safe and always verify!

Got a call saying it was from PayPal credit about a missed payment, seemed pretty genuine at first. But honestly, it felt a bit off that they just asked me straight out for my email address, which is what I use to log in - bit dodgy if you ask me. Would be much nicer if they started the call properly, something like "Hi, this is PayPal, and we're calling from the number on record to inform you about a missed payment." That way, I’d just say, "Alright thanks, I’ll have a look and log in myself." Feels safer that way, ya know?

I've had this number ring me up at least three times today, left a weird voicemail as well. Feels like some sort of scam to me! I just blocked it and deleted the message straight away, no way I’m calling back. Proper annoying how these calls keep coming through, they really ought to be banned.

The call did mention something about energy recycling, but it seemed genuine. I told the woman I wasn’t comfortable verifying any information over the phone, and she said she’d send me an email instead. About ten minutes later, I received a message asking me to look at my Paypal inbox. When I logged in, there was a note saying my Paypal Credit payment was overdue. I rang Paypal to make sure the call was genuine, and they confirmed they had recorded that I declined to provide details. I explained the energy recycle mention, paid off my bill, and then closed the credit account.

My phone shows the caller as 'Energy Recycle' on my S10. They call loads, like 15 times a day, never leave a voicemail, just super irritating. If this is meant to be PayPal, why doesn’t it say PayPal instead of some weird 'Energy Recycle' name? Makes no sense at all!

I got a call from this number claiming to be from Paypal Credit, but something felt off. I rang the number back and spoke to genuine Paypal Credit who said they had no record of calling me. Then about 10 minutes later, the same number called again and this time an Irish guy answered, asking for a woman. Seems like they're spoofing a real number to make the call appear legit when it’s not. Best to block it, or if you’re in doubt, call Paypal Credit directly using their official number to check if it’s real.

Got a call from a guy with an Irish accent claiming to be from PayPal. Turned out to be a proper call about some overdue amount on my PayPal credit account.

Got a call from a lady with an Irish accent claiming to be from PayPal. She wanted my email under the guise of some data protection thing, but I didn’t fall for it. She pushed me to ring PayPal myself, which made no sense at all. Definitely one of those dodgy scam calls.

Got a call from this number and on my Galaxy S10 it popped up as 'Smart Recycle'. The voicemail sounded just like those scammy 0800 numbers I've had before - some guy with an Irish accent mumbling a phone number or maybe an access code. Felt super sketchy to me. Would definitely give it a miss and block it straight away.

This bloke with an Irish accent has called me over 30 times now, saying he's from PayPal and that my husband needs to get back to him right away. We've had a proper look at our PayPal account and nothing's wrong at all. It’s obviously a scam, so I’m planning to report it to PayPal too.
