I received a call from someone claiming to be Alan Aldridge from BT. He requested that I connect to the website pchelpme.us using "Monzila" (presumably meaning Mozilla), but he couldn't even pronounce the correct name properly and had a strong Filipino accent. When I declined to connect because I asked for details from my personal account to confirm his identity, he became verbally abusive. Even if this call was genuinely from a BT staff member, his attitude was appalling and I had to end the call.

A person identifying herself as Lisa Edwards from BT approached me as an agent. She alleged that my IP connection had been switched from a private to a public one, making it prone to hacking. She proceeded to request access to my computer in order to rectify the issue.

So this bloke called me, sounded Asian, claiming to be from Openreach or BT, something like that, and said they were based in London. After a bit he mixed up Swindon with London, which was a bit odd. He told me I could call that number back to check, but kept the line open. I told him straight I’ve had loads of calls like this before and I’m well aware it’s just a scam.

Got a call from 01323 734629 showing up as BT or something, but they never asked for my name. They wanted me to test my internet speed. I kept asking what the point was but the person just stuck to their script. Eventually I asked for a number to ring back, after a couple of wrong tries they finally gave me 0800 9170510.

Got a call from 08009170510 claiming to be from BT, saying my internet was set to public and not private. I told them I wasn’t even a BT customer, and the person insisted BT handles all communications across the UK. I immediately called it out as a scam and asked for their number, which turned out to be the same one above. I said I’d call back (which I didn’t) and then checked this site to confirm my suspicion. Seriously, the government should be using resources like "who called me" to track down and shut these scams. This website really saved me from falling for it.

My elderly mother was targeted by a BT scam in which the scammer, speaking with an Indian accent, claimed that downloading a certain app on her phone would protect her IP address. At the time, the scammer seemed completely credible, which makes it even more shocking for elderly individuals. It is important to locate and punish these fraudsters.

For the past two days, I have received calls on my landline from a gentleman with a distinct Indian accent. He claims to be from BT OpenReach and insists that there is an issue with my router. Although he was polite, I couldn't shake off a feeling of unease. To gain some reassurance, I requested a number to call him back, and he provided me with 0800 9170510. However, upon researching this number, my suspicions were confirmed - it is associated with a scam. The original number the caller used to contact me was 07177314882.

Today, I received two phone calls. Firstly, a woman called with a loud Asian voice claiming that my WiFi had been hacked. Then, a man called insisting the same thing. They seemed determined and persistent. They even knew my wife's mobile number and email address, which was quite concerning. To buy myself some time, I suggested they leave a contact number, promising to get back to them later. The number they provided was 08009170510. Out of curiosity, I decided to look it up and to my surprise, it was labelled as dangerous...

I don’t get why these scammy folks can use an 0800 number. Shouldn’t they be easy to track down or even get in trouble with the law? Seems dodgy to me.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent who somehow already had my name and where I live. She said bad people were doing illegal stuff on my internet. I asked for her number, and she gave me this one. I could tell right away it was a scam, especially after I was passed to someone she said was a "senior team member". Looks like the call came from 01903721560. I ended up hanging up pretty quick.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with Openreach, asking me to run a speed test, which I did. After that, they tried to get me to install either AnyDesk or TeamViewer so an engineer could supposedly be sent out. I told them I wasn’t going to download anything and asked for their contact number 08009170510 along with an ID, VT2117 A Daniel Smith, so I could verify their identity. Unsurprisingly, they weren’t legitimate, so I didn’t bother returning the call.

Initially, you might receive an automated message notifying you that your Internet has been compromised. Subsequently, you may be connected to a courteous advisor with an Indian accent who willingly discloses his name and contact information in case you wish to involve the authorities. Upon conducting a Google search, it becomes apparent that the provided number is associated with a fraudulent scheme. Therefore, it is important to exercise caution and remain vigilant.

I received a call from an individual who claimed to be from BT, stating that my router required additional security measures. However, I had my doubts when he instructed me to visit www.btopenreach.weebly, as I noted that BT has its own website and does not utilize Weebly. Furthermore, he attempted to persuade me to install Team Viewer Quick Support so that he could gain remote access to my device. Sensing the suspicious nature of the situation, I firmly declined his request, emphasizing that I would not permit anyone to remotely access my device. In order to verify the caller's authenticity, I expressed my intention to call him back. He provided me with an 0800 number which turned out to be associated with a fraudulent scheme upon investigation.

I received an automated call from someone claiming to be from Amazon, informing me that my Prime account subscription payment was overdue. Suspecting something fishy, I pressed the designated number to seek assistance. A foreign lady answered the call and started speaking rapidly about my purported Amazon account. When I inquired about which account she was referring to, as I have two, she confidently stated it was for Mr. Clarke. I promptly clarified that I am not Mr. Clarke, and without any hesitation, she abruptly ended the call. Quite impolite, in my opinion. It seems that these undesirable individuals are up to no good, as I received another call for Mr. Clarke just yesterday. It is worth noting that Mr. Clarke has never been associated with this address.

Got a really dodgy call claiming to be from Amazon Prime today. It was a recorded message, sounded like a woman with a southern English accent. I received a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be "Austin Jones", the floor manager of the Technical department. He asked me to visit a remote support website, but I declined the request as it sounded suspicious. He then mentioned a problem with a corrupted IP address. The call started by mentioning a charge of 600 on my VISA bill, and if I didn't recognize it, I was asked to press 1. Just for reference, here are the details I collected: IP address: http://183.82.112.180 Customer security ID: 888dca60fc0a11cf8f0f00c04fd7d062 If you need it, here's the contact number: 08009170510. Austin Jones is supposedly the floor manager in the Technical department for BT customers, reporting an issue with their security IT. Note that I have already informed BT about this scam, which provided some peace of mind.

Earlier this morning, I received a phone call claiming to be from BT. The person on the line informed me that my internet account had been breached and that they would be shutting it down within five minutes. Being preoccupied at the time, I requested their contact number so that I could return the call later. They provided me with the aforementioned 0800 number. After ending the call, I used the 1471 service to identify the 'last number called', which turned out to be 01287962889. To address this matter, I promptly contacted BT by dialing 151 and reported the incident. BT confirmed that it was indeed a scam. Shortly thereafter, the scammer attempted to call me again but I ended the call once more. This time, utilizing the 1471 service revealed the 'last number called' as 01289695070.
