Had a call from someone saying he was Alan Aldridge from BT, trying to get me to log onto https://pchelpme.us/ using "Monzila" or something like that - he couldn’t even say Mozilla right, and had a heavy Filipino accent. When I said no and asked him to prove he knew my account details before trusting him, he got quite rude. Even if he was really from BT, the way he spoke put me off, so I ended the call straight away.

I got a call from someone saying she was Lisa Edwards, supposedley from BT, telling me my internet connection had switched from private to public, which apparently put me at risk of hackers. Then she asked me to let her take control of my computer to sort it out. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.

So this bloke called me, sounded Asian, claiming to be from Openreach or BT, something like that, and said they were based in London. After a bit he mixed up Swindon with London, which was a bit odd. He told me I could call that number back to check, but kept the line open. I told him straight I’ve had loads of calls like this before and I’m well aware it’s just a scam.

Got a call from 01323 734629 showing up as BT or something, but they never asked for my name. They wanted me to test my internet speed. I kept asking what the point was but the person just stuck to their script. Eventually I asked for a number to ring back, after a couple of wrong tries they finally gave me 0800 9170510.

Got a call from 08009170510 claiming to be from BT, saying my internet was set to public and not private. I told them I wasn’t even a BT customer, and the person insisted BT handles all communications across the UK. I immediately called it out as a scam and asked for their number, which turned out to be the same one above. I said I’d call back (which I didn’t) and then checked this site to confirm my suspicion. Seriously, the government should be using resources like "who called me" to track down and shut these scams. This website really saved me from falling for it.

Got a call claiming to be from BT, telling my mum she needed to install some app on her phone to protect her IP address. The guy spoke with an Indian accent and sounded totally convincing. It really shook her up, especially being older. Honestly, these scammers need to be found and punished properly.

For the last couple of days, I've had a man ring my home phone who spoke with a really thick Indian accent. He claimed to be from BT OpenReach, saying there was some issue with my router. While he was courteous, he kept pushing the matter quite hard. When I requested a phone number to return his call, he provided:
0800 9170510

Got two calls today, one from a woman and another from a bloke, both with really loud, strong Asian accents, going on about my WiFi being hacked. They even knew my wife's phone number and email address. I told them to leave a contact number and that I'd get back to them, which was 08009170510. A quick online search showed it to be flagged as risky... not surprised!

I don’t get why these scammy folks can use an 0800 number. Shouldn’t they be easy to track down or even get in trouble with the law? Seems dodgy to me.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent who somehow already had my name and where I live. She said bad people were doing illegal stuff on my internet. I asked for her number, and she gave me this one. I could tell right away it was a scam, especially after I was passed to someone she said was a "senior team member". Looks like the call came from 01903721560. I ended up hanging up pretty quick.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with Openreach, asking me to run a speed test, which I did. After that, they tried to get me to install either AnyDesk or TeamViewer so an engineer could supposedly be sent out. I told them I wasn’t going to download anything and asked for their contact number 08009170510 along with an ID, VT2117 A Daniel Smith, so I could verify their identity. Unsurprisingly, they weren’t legitimate, so I didn’t bother returning the call.

For the past three days, I’ve been getting calls from someone saying they’re from BT. They told me my internet was hacked and then said there were issues with my phone line. When I told them I didn’t believe it, they were quite rude and a bit cheeky about it!

I got a call where this recorded voice started warning me that my internet was being hacked, then they passed me onto a really polite guy with an Indian accent. He even gave me his name and phone number, saying I could contact the police if I wanted. I looked up the number on Google afterwards and turns out it’s a total scam. Just wanted to give a heads up to be careful!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be with BT, saying my router needed sorting out. He told me to go on www.btopenreach.weebly, which instantly felt dodgy since BT have their own legit site and wouldn’t use a weebly address. Then he asked me to download TeamViewer Quick Support so he could take control of my computer. I wasn’t having any of it and said I’d ring him back to make sure it was legit. He gave me an 0800 number, so I looked it up and, sure enough, it’s a total scam!

Got a robocall claiming to be Amazon, saying my Prime subscription needed renewing. I pressed 1 to get some info and got put through to a lady with an accent who started going on about my Amazon account. When I asked which account, cos I’ve got two, she said it was for a Mr Clarke. Told her I’m not him and then she just disconnected. Bit cheeky if you ask me. What’s odd is I had a call for Mr Clarke just yesterday, and he’s never lived here. Definitely seems like they’re up to something dodgy.

Got a really dodgy call claiming to be from Amazon Prime today. It was a recorded message, sounded like a woman with a southern English accent. Got a dodgy phone call from someone claiming to be Austin Jones, who said he was the floor manager in the technical team. He tried to get me to go on some remote support site - no thanks! This morning I got a call claiming to be from BT, saying my internet account was at risk and would be disconnected in five minutes. I told them I was tied up and asked for their contact number to ring them back. They gave me the 0800 number shown above. After hanging up, I checked the last dialled number using 1471 and it showed 01287962889. I then phoned BT on 151 to report it, and they told me it was definitely a scam.
