This evening, our home phone rang, and upon answering, we were met with an odd message from a woman who claimed it was a courtesy call regarding our orange mobile. When we replied affirmatively and inquired why they had chosen our landline rather than our mobile, he shot back quite rudely, insisting that it was indeed a courtesy call. We expressed our gratitude for his concern and reassured him that all was well. However, he abruptly disconnected the line after that. What a bother!

A chap called wanting to know if we were Miss T. We told him it’s been ages since anyone went by that name, but confirmed nonetheless. After that, he abruptly hung up. Curiously, I dialled the number back (since it was an 0800) and it turned out to be an Orange call centre. They mentioned I must have missed a call regarding some sort of sale. I’ve been with Orange for six years now, under our married name, yet these people keep asking for Miss T. Quite strange, really!

I received yet another call that seemed to be a well-meaning courtesy check! What on earth is the purpose of these calls? They ask, "Is everything alright?" and when we reply with a simple "Yes", they promptly respond with, "That’s splendid" before hanging up. What an utter waste of everyone’s time! It feels like some sort of marketing ruse if you ask me. I'm beginning to suspect that Orange has sold my information to a third-party company, which has in turn hired a call centre to confirm the accuracy of said information. And then, of course, they can continue this never-ending cycle of ringing and reselling my number. It’s ludicrous! I’m seriously contemplating reaching out to Orange to get to the bottom of this, as these callers have contacted us about twenty times now!
