Got a call yesterday from someone claiming to be Santander's fraud team. They were quite smart, knowing the first seven digits of my card and asking for the code on the back and all. I told them I was driving and would ring back later. They kept pushing, saying it was urgent. I hung up and called Santander straight away, who said they hadn’t called me and cancelled my card. Just got another call from them at 8.15pm tonight, so I hung up again.

Some bloke called Sebastian claiming he was from Santander’s fraud department. He said someone was trying to take a £4,000 loan from my online banking, but I don’t even have online banking. Watch out, they sound proper convincing. He even tried calling back later at 8.40 in the evening.

Someone pretending to be from Santander security called me, probably linked to the folks who tried to make a dodgy payment with my card but failed the second security check, so Santander stopped it. I’d already spent a good 75 minutes on the phone with Santander’s security crew that day, so when a call came in with no number showing, I knew it was dodgy. Then they rang back from this number saying they were Santander security customer service. Just hang up and block the number straight away. You might also want to set your phone to block calls with withheld numbers - it helps loads.

SCAM Alert! This number pretends really well to be the Santander Fraud team, but don’t be fooled. I’d suggest hanging up straight away and phoning Santander on their official number to confirm. They got me to answer loads of “security questions” and I gave away way too much personal info before I caught on. They called me a couple of times today and somehow got access to my online banking. While I was trying to check if they were legit, they kept throwing other questions at me to keep me distracted. They tried to take £500 during the call, but Santander spotted it and blocked the transaction. I was wary and asked loads of questions, I reckon if I hadn’t, they’d have stolen more. Quite a clever scam, honestly. Hopefully this warns others. Santander has a special passphrase you can ask for to make sure you’re dealing with them. If they can’t give it, hang up and call Santander on their main number. And definitely block the number that contacted you.

Watch out for this Santander Bank scam, seriously don’t trust ’em at all. Never give out your personal info to these people. Tried calling Santander myself but just got told they were swamped with other callers. If you’re on your own, get someone you know and trust to help you. There’s two scammers involved - one keeps saying “is that OK?” over and over and sounds really believable, the other one is just thick as a plank. Proper dodgy pair.

Someone called claiming to be from Santander fraud dept. If you search them on google, their site comes up first as an advert, which made it seem legit. Turns out it’s a total scam. They freaked me out about fraud on my credit card, then said hackers were inside my online banking and they had to freeze everything and change all my account details. That’s when I got proper suspicious. But by then they’d already got me to reveal my account balance. Beware of these scammers! The bloke said his name was Michael Stevens - I’m sure his mum would be thrilled with his career choice.

Someone rang my other half claiming to be from Santander’s fraud department. Sounded really legit. They got her to open her banking app and confirm her account balance and overdraft limit. She’d also got an email the day before about possible dodgy activity on her PayPal, with a link she clicked on and put her bank details into to supposedly block the fake payment. She said she’d call the bank back, then the caller just hung up. We phoned Santander and they confirmed they never contacted her. They’ve now cancelled and replaced her debit card and reported it as a scam attempt.

This was totally a fake alert. Got a text supposedly from DPD saying I owed £2.99 for some delivery charges. I’ve been waiting on a parcel from China that never showed, so I thought okay, maybe it’s legit. But when they started asking for my bank details it felt dodgy. Then out of nowhere, NatWest fraud team rang me up saying there’d been sketchy activity on my card with someone trying to withdraw about £9500. They asked if I had other accounts and when I said Santander, they wanted to know my balance. Next thing I know, they’re warning me about internal fraud at Santander, trying to get me to move my money into a supposedly secure A T S B account they “set up”. It turned into such a stressful mess. Fortunately, Santander spotted the fraud attempt and helped me avoid getting stung. Please be super cautious, this scam is real!

Definitely a scam going on here. I got a dodgy text pretending to be from Santander’s fraud team just minutes before a call came through. The message popped up in the same chat thread where I'd been getting proper Santander texts since 2017, which made it seem real at first. The text warned me about suspicious activity and said someone from fraud dept would call soon. Then, number 0800 731 6666 rang me and asked for OTP codes for some high-value purchases at places like Selfridges and Box Ltd, which also showed up in the Santander message feed. They even tried to persuade me to transfer all my funds into a 'Switch' account for “security,” which had a Lloyds/TSB sort code starting with 77 and was linked to a ‘case manager’ name they told me to make note of earlier during the call. I nearly got fooled because they were impressively convincing. Just watch out for this kind of trickery.

Got a call from a polite woman claiming to be from Santander’s fraud dept, saying there were charges for Thomas Cook on my bank. I told her I work as a Police Inspector and asked for her name, and weirdly she just ended the call! Honestly, do these muppets ever stop bothering people?

Oh, it's me once more! Got a call again from that exact number claiming to be from my bank, saying there were "unusual activities" on my account that needed confirming. They even sent me a text, pretending to be from the bank, with a code they asked me to say out loud. I told them I’d rather ring my bank and pass on their number instead. Asked the caller her name - she said Katie Sawyer. When I requested her contact number, she told me it’s on the back of my debit card. I asked her to repeat it, then abruptly, she ended the call.

Shortly after getting an email that looked like it was from Booking[###] about a booking I never made, I got a phone call. The connection was really poor and after a bit a voice asked if I was a Mr Honeysett. I told them I wasn’t and then they just dropped the call. Both the email and the call seemed really dodgy to me.

Today I got a call claiming to be from Santander, saying some money was due to leave my account the next day and they needed to send me a one-time password. I was in the middle of eating, so I asked them to ring me back in about 30 minutes. Instead, they called nearly two hours later and insisted they had already spoken to me, but the voice didn’t sound right at all. They kept talking about the payment leaving my account and then suddenly asked for my OTP. I told them each transaction has its own unique OTP and I didn’t have one for this. The caller started stammering and trying to talk their way round it, so I called them out as a scammer and hung up.

Got a letter from santander today with this number on it, saying i need to ring them about a new standing order. Problem is, I never set one up... seems like they’re not just ringing folks out of the blue. Watch out for this!
