Some dodgy characters attempted to con my grandfather, claiming he required their emergency alarm pendant. Stay vigilant, as this number poses a significant risk.

Somebody called my elderly family member claiming their fall alert needed an urgent update. Luckily, they double checked the number with me first. When I phoned the number back, I was suspicious and didn’t share any info, telling them they seemed like a scammer. Afterwards, I contacted the genuine fall alarm company and they confirmed everything with our device was perfectly fine. Absolutely a dodgy scam trying to trick vulnerable people!

Some woman calling herself Sam Wilson rang my mum and tried to trick her into handing over cash. Thankfully, mum didn’t have her card nearby, or she might’ve actually ended up giving her bank info.

The shows listed here are Scam Interceptors and Phone Scams Don’t Get Caught Out - definitely worth watching if you use a phone or have a bank account. These con artists are incredibly clever, running proper organised crime rings. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you’re too clever to be tricked. Even if you’re careful, someone close to you might fall victim and lose all their money.

If more folks who get these scam calls text 7726 to report them, maybe less people will fall for it. I saw on some TV shows about phone scams (both on iPlayer and My5) that scammers managed to cheat Brits out of over £1 billion last year. We need to report these scams if anything’s gonna change. Just text the call info to 7726. Forward scam texts the same way, and scam emails go to [email protected]. This info is from the police ACTION FRAUD site about phishing. Don’t forget to also complain to your MP about these scams.

Phoned my elderly Aunt earlier - we handle her LPA. Some lot called themselves Dr Alert from Crawley tried to push a pendant on her she doesn’t want or need since she already owns one. The background noise on the call was more like the streets of India, not anywhere in the UK, so defo a con. They don’t seem to care about the Call Preference Service rules at all. It’s pretty disheartening that firms keep ringing older folk pretending to be official but just want to sell stuff or scam them.

⚠️⚠️⚠️WARNING⚠️⚠️⚠️This Dr Alert firm is a total scam‼️ They’re nowhere to be found on GOV.UK or Companies House records. They claim to offer a panic button for £249, but don’t fall for it!⚠️ They’re targeting old and vulnerable people - BE CAREFUL‼️‼️‼️ This is nothing but a con trying to exploit those who can least afford it⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
