Really impolite call. The person talked in a strange, silly tone (NOT an accent or anything familiar) claiming they were from BT but definitely weren’t. When I replied using the same silly voice, they got quite hostile and rude. They kept asking why I was speaking like that and said they knew I was a BT customer. Definitely a scam, not BT at all.

Got a call from someone claiming to be "Nicola" at BT about updating terms cos our area’s switching from copper to fibre. When I mentioned loads of folks saying they're BT, she said we’d probly get another letter since the first one said we just need to put in a new router. Then she just hung up. Seems dodgy to me, especially as they knew who held the account and about the network changes. Watch out!

I got a call from 08003357020 on 27th Jan 2020 at about 10:45am. The person said they were from BT and said my broadband was switching from copper to fibre, and that my contract would be changing too. They also said I’d need a new router. I told them I don't make deals on the phone and to send me something in writing, then they just ended the call.

Some bloke called saying he was from BT, trying to lock in a broadband price for two years. He asked for my name, postcode and number he’d just dialled from. I told him if he was really from BT, he’d already have that info. Didn’t feel right giving personal details to a stranger on the phone, seemed dodgy. When I said that, he told me I must be the worst customer ever. So I joked, would he lend me his bank card for shopping then? He kept pestering to speak with my missus, said she was the account holder. I told him to jog on and hung up. The man had a northern accent.

Then they asked if I paid by direct debit, which I found odd, so I said no, I pay when I get the bill. They then wanted me to confirm my name, postcode and phone number. Just as I was about to, the call suddenly dropped.

They've called me four times today. Lucky I wasn’t in, but even if I was, I wouldn’t have picked up. No messages left either. Last Saturday I got a call at 8.45, then again Monday at 8.30. Pretty sure it’s the same person just changing numbers. Also got calls from America, Austria and Scotland. Didn’t pick up any of them, and no messages left. What a nuisance!

That’s when I decided to end the call.

This number has dialled me three times within the past hour. The first two calls only rang a couple of times, so I couldn’t pick up. The third time it rang for a bit longer, but after six rings, the answering machine picked up and there was no voicemail left.

*I received a call from a lad named Joshua hailing from Wigan, claiming to be representing BT. He even sent a text to my mobile to 'prove' his identity - what a laugh!
They had somehow managed to snag my mobile number as well, and yes, they did give me a bell.
He was going on about slashing my BT bill, but when I asked him what BT stood for, there was a noticeable pause before he eventually responded.
At that point, I decided to hang up and had a gander on the forum, only to discover it was indeed a scam.
So take heed of this northern-sounding youth who clearly hadn’t received proper training from BT; his telephone etiquette was dreadful and downright unconvincing.
When I requested his contact number, he couldn’t provide one! Rather odd for someone who was supposedly representing BT. This really is a SCAM! Next time, I'm seriously considering blowing my whistle down the phone - I reckon that would give them a turn!

Like usual, if I don’t recognise a number, I just let it ring until it goes to voicemail so they can leave a message. If it’s really urgent, they’ll do it. No message came through, and from what others are saying, I’m pretty sure it’s just another scam call. Harassment doesnt quite cover it, tbh, it should be called DANGEROUS because they might trick an elderly person into buying stuff they actually dont need.

When I first received a call from this number, I picked up and was greeted by an insistent lady sporting a Geordie accent. She introduced herself as representing BY and immediately launched into a rather aggressive sales pitch for various offers. Despite my clear disinterest, she kept pushing harder. Eventually, I had to tell her, 'You’re not really hearing me, so I’m hanging up now,’ and I ended the call. I've since blocked the number on my phone. Since then, I’ve noticed several more attempts to reach me, but they’re unable to get through. Call guardian is an absolute lifesaver!

Turns out this number is from BT. I rang it back just to check and an automated voice told me "BT has tried to reach you, no action needed but if you want to stop marketing calls, ring 0800 028 2272 to be removed from their list." I did that and supposedly it takes up to 28 days to kick in. They also mentioned you can get BT call protect free of charge. The lady I spoke with was shocked I got 11 calls from this number in only 3 days, but she promised it should be sorted once the block is in place.

I've been hassled by different women ringing from this number since Tuesday (now it's Thursday). I picked up twice and said I wasn’t interested. I let it ring to voicemail twice and they left no message. She rang again today, I told her to stop but she called again and kept pushing about some money-saving offer. A chap who claimed to be Liam from BT rang me up, saying he wanted to have a chinwag about my broadband contract. He was quite talkative, which seemed friendly enough at first. Then he had the cheek to ask me to verify my name! That’s when I cottoned on and pointed out it was obviously a SCAM call, and just like that, he ended the call! I never picked up. They called just once earlier today and again tonight, but left no voicemail. From what I’ve read here, they say they’re from BT. I spent a long time trying to get hold of BT on their official number 0800 800 150, and they told me NO ONE FROM BT HAS CALLED, AND THIS NUMBER ISN’T THEIRS. They even set me up with a free call blocker so I can send dodgy numbers straight to junk and block loads of unwanted calls. I reckon whoever said that number is likely part of the scam too.

A bit worried about this. Might have been a legit BT caller, but I never answer random calls and definitely don't share any personal info. If BT really has deals or upgrades, they should just put them on their official website. If it sounds like a great deal, be careful!

Got a call from this number at 4.45pm, didn’t pick up and let it go to voicemail, but no message was left. Same as what others are saying, looks like a scam to me. They keep ringing my landline but never bother to speak or leave anything. Really pointless for them, just a waste of time.

I’ve had calls from the BT sales people a few times before and usually I just ignore them. But this time they offered me a better deal than Sky, plus a mobile thrown in. Normally I’m quite wary of these calls but 100% this one was definitely BT. Always best to be careful though with any unsolicited calls.

This number rang me a couple times before I picked up. The bloke on the line had a Scottish accent and started asking if I’d “seen the deals they’re offering.” When I asked who exactly was calling, he said BT. I tried to catch him out by asking what my landline number was, and he had no clue. Still, he did know my name, my mobile, and my postcode. I just hung up and blocked the number straight away.

This morning alone, I got about 12 calls from this number. Every time I answered, there was silence on the other end. Seems like a scam to me, so I’ve blocked it now. My advice? Don’t bother answering!

So they called me once and I let it ring, didn’t pick up. The second time I did pick up and just said hello, but the person on the other end just cut the call straightaway. Third call came through and I stayed silent when I answered, they said hello then just ended the call after a bit cause I didn’t respond. I’ve blocked the number now.
