Got a call from a bloke claiming he was from BT, telling me my broadband contract needed renewing (which it definitely doesn't). Wasn't expecting the call, so I asked him to send the details over instead. He just said "Alright" and hung up without asking for any of my info. Nothing has come through since then.

Heads up if your deal with BT is coming to an end. The callers do seem to be working for or with BT, but they claimed they were just checking my broadband. Then they offered me a free device to improve the service. If I’d accepted, I later found out I’d be unknowingly agreeing to a new 24 month contract (mine finishes May 2024), which the person on the phone admitted. I told them I needed until May to compare other providers and deals, and wouldn’t be automatically renewing with BT. Seems a bit sneaky to me, not the best way to handle things.

Caution is advised if your BT contract is nearing its expiry. I encountered a caller who appeared to be an official representative of BT, supposedly to evaluate my broadband service. They offered me some 'free' equipment intended to enhance my connection. However, I soon realised that by accepting it, I’d be unwittingly enlisting in a fresh 24-month contract, even though my current one runs until May 2024. The caller was honest enough to confirm this. He mentioned that if I opted for the new contract, my payments wouldn’t be subject to the annual price hike occurring on the 31st of March, which he insisted I should take advantage of before that date. Nevertheless, the monthly fee he mentioned was similar but not identical to my existing rate. I firmly stated that I had until May to explore alternative providers and that I wasn’t inclined to automatically renew my agreement with BT. Such underhand tactics are rather disreputable for a business!

Somebody rang claiming to be from BT saying my contract was ending soon and wanted to offer new deals. I told them mine ends in November but they insisted it was sooner. They asked me to confirm my full name but I didn’t want to give it out since they should already have that info. After that, they said they probably couldn’t help me anyway. I just said thanks for the call and ended it.

Got a call from this number today. Didn’t answer as I didn’t know it. Tried calling back. It rang twice then cut off from their side. Gave it another go, same thing happened. These annoying calls are driving me crazy!

Some guy said he was from BT, sounded like he was from Wigan or somewhere. The moment I said I needed to think about their upgrade deal, he just cut the call. Would steer clear of this one.

They rang my landline four separate times today but I couldn’t get to the phone before it went to voicemail, and they didn’t leave any message either. I’ve set my landline to block all unknown numbers except ones I’ve approved, so I’m not sure how they managed to get through. Anyway, I’ve blocked the number now. I don’t entertain any calls I haven’t asked for, whether it’s BT, EE, or whoever else.

Some bloke called claiming he was with BT, saying our contract needed renewing, but it’s not actually up till next April.

A guy with a Liverpool voice called claiming to be from BT saying my contract needed renewing... I told him I wasn’t with BT and I’d get in touch with my provider directly. He snapped back with "you are"! So I just ended the call. He hasn’t tried again, but I’ve had this number pop up before and ignored it every time! This is 100% a SCAM!

They've called me 3 times now. This telesales firm is working for BT. Like others have mentioned, they're really rude and pushy, then if you don't agree to renew through them, they just cut you off mid chat. At first, I thought it was a scam because of how dodgy it felt! I rang BT last night and was told my do-not-call preferences were off, so they shouldn't have phoned me at all. BT emailed me back saying my complaint was "closed," so it seems they’re fine with these tactics as long as it makes money. Honestly disgraceful behaviour!!!

Someone rang asking for me but my missus said I wasnt in. The caller tried to say who they were but my wife got a funny feeling and ended the call. After seeing other reviews, sounds like it’s someone working for BT. Likely trying to get me to pay more for stuff I don’t need. Bet they get some kind of cut from BT.

Got a call from this number and it was BT. Checked on their site and it comes up as one of their partner firms, listed under interact. The person on the line was really helpful, managed to sort out a better deal for my broadband and TV. They had me verify with a one-time pin sent to my mobile, but also let me answer a couple questions instead - asked about my last bill amount and payment date. Seems like a legit call to me.

Got two calls from this number on my home phone today but missed answering them. Tried calling back and it just said the number isn’t connected. Seems like one of those dodgy scam calls to me.

I keep getting calls from this number over and over. A few times there’s been no one speaking on the other end, but once they said they're from BT and that my contract’s up for renewal. When I asked when it actually ends, they said they had to verify my details first. Total scam, my contract definitely isn’t due anywhere near now!

Just got another call from 0800335700. They claim to be BT about Broadband stuff from Wigan & said they can do an ID check. They already know the account holder’s name and last few digits of the mobile number. If you decide to call back, it rings three times then goes dead. The accent sounds British.

They called me three times earlier today and just dropped the call as soon as I said hello, really starting to annoy me now.

Got a call today, and the person asked for me by name. My missus picked up and said I wasn’t home. The caller claimed they were from TSB bank, then just ended the call. I saved the number and tried calling back, it rang a couple of times then cut off. I then used a number from my bank statement to ring the bank directly. They confirmed my account was fine and said they’d report this to their security team. This is definitely the safest way to handle these suspicious calls. Stay cautious and look after yourselves.

Lately this number has called me quite a few times, actually twice just today. I have no idea who it is, so like I usually do, I don’t pick up unknown numbers. I figure if it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail, but they never do. Honestly, these calls are getting on my nerves and feeling a bit like harassment.
