Got a call from the Office for National Statistics today, they just asked a couple of general questions, nothing personal. Seemed pretty straightforward to me.

Got a call from someone sayin they were with the Office for National Stats. Sounded official but I wasn’t sure if it was legit. Just be careful!

Got a call from the Office for National Statistics a little while ago. They seem to ring up about once every few months to do a survey, and if you take part, they give you a £25 voucher as a thank you. They also use two other numbers: 08002985313 and 02392958174.

Honestly, they're just bullies who try to intimidate you with threats. No law says you have to talk to them, and you definitely won't get in trouble for ignoring their calls.

I received a letter inviting me to complete a survey, and with it came a Love to Shop voucher for £5. I'm a bit suspicious though - are these genuine? I've heard there are loads of fake Love to Shop vouchers floating about recently. Plus, the letter says it's sent on Her Majesty's service, is that actually legit? Anyone else had something like this?

We've been receiving calls from these individuals at the strangest hours. Currently, we're on holiday and really don’t wish to pick up, as it could rack up quite the bill! What’s more, they don't leave a message on voicemail, which is quite frustrating.

I've frequently found ourselves on the x list for landlines, and since I'm on a pay-as-you-go mobile, I really can't fathom how these individuals manage to get hold of my number. It seems purely coincidental, doesn't it? I've designated this number as a do not respond on our device.

Could someone kindly shed some light on who this might be? Much appreciated!

ANONYMOUS 8TH DECEMBER 2016 - I thought the letter from the OFFICE FOR NATIONAL STATISTICS was a bit full of itself. It basically says, "you've been selected, there's no one else we can use; thanks for assisting ONS with this survey". What the ONS doesn’t seem to get is that not everyone is keen on having a chat with a random person showing up at their house. If anything, the biggest issue I had was the sheer cheek of it all.

ANONYMOUS 8TH DEC 2016 - Honestly, the note from the OFFICE FOR NATIONAL STATISTICS was a bit much. It just says "you’ve been selected, no one else can take your place; thanks for aiding ONS with this survey". What they don’t get is that lots of people aren’t keen on having a stranger show up for an interview at their home. If there’s one thing that really bugs me, it’s the sheer cheekiness of it all.

Absolutely, ONS! And I've got to say, the folks I encountered were genuinely lovely as well.

These folks keep giving us a bell at the most inconvenient times. We're currently enjoying a holiday and have no intention of picking up, especially since it would really rack up the charges! Plus, they don't even bother leaving a message when it goes to voicemail. How frustrating!

There’s really no need to be concerned about these calls. They’re actually from the Office for National Statistics, and they’re simply seeking your participation in some national surveys. The individuals conducting the interviews are highly trained and go about their work in a polite manner. Often, they’ll even leave a voicemail after the very first ring to ensure you know who tried to get in touch with you.

Whoever this company may be, we want to make it abundantly clear that they seem to be employing what we perceive as downright scare tactics with regard to our father-in-law. We recommend that anyone who receives calls from them firmly tells them to cease their incessant ringing-though perhaps not as courteously as we've put it here! We're also quite keen to know if anyone else has faced similar unsolicited calls from this number!

We received a call from this number earlier today as well. Is there a possibility you’ve either submitted an application to the Open University or perhaps been seeking employment in Southampton? They’re the only ones we can think of that might have tried to get in touch with us.

We recently received a call from this number, and it turns out to be the Office for National Statistics, as many others have mentioned. The lady on the other end was exceptionally polite. When we explained that we were at work and couldn’t chat at the moment, she kindly asked when would be a suitable time for her to ring back, offering to accommodate our schedule. So, honestly, there’s no cause for concern regarding a call from this number.

Absolutely, I reckon this was from the Office for National Statistics. They’re decent to chat with, though they can be a tad time-consuming. It’s not a sales outfit or anything trying to peddle wares. Once you’ve given them the nod to participate in a survey, they can be a bit pushy. I suspect they operate based on a postcode sort of system or something similar.

I believe these folks are associated with the Office for National Statistics. I recently assisted them with their survey, and I must say, everyone I encountered was quite courteous. They do tend to leave messages and are more than willing to ring you back at a time that suits you better. Contributing to the survey made me feel like I was doing my part for the nation, and I would gladly assist them again in the future.

Absolutely, it's really frustrating! These folks just won’t take no for an answer, even after we've clearly said we're not interested in their survey. It's getting quite tiresome, to be honest!

Whoever this company is, we’d like to raise awareness about their rather alarming tactics that we believe border on virtual intimidation directed at our father-in-law. We strongly recommend that anyone experiencing similar nuisance calls from these individuals ought to tell them to stop - and not in the most civil manner either, if you catch our drift. We’re keen to find out if anyone else has had any unsolicited calls from this number!

Before I picked up the call, I checked the number and found out it was the office responsible for national statistics. They conduct lots of surveys, and I’ve taken part in one about the labour market. I thought it was quite important since it helps with understanding jobs and employment. Both me and my husband found them really polite and respectful. You probably come across their data on the news or in newspapers quite often. They also handle the census, by the way. Hope this info is useful!

What’s the deal with this company? Just a heads up, they employ what can only be described as a proper scare tactic, particularly with our father-in-law. We strongly suggest folks tell them to stop calling-though perhaps not in the most courteous manner we’ve conveyed here. We’re simply curious if anyone else is also receiving persistent unsolicited calls from this number!

My mate got a letter asking her to take part in an ONS survey, and the phone number mentioned in the letter was this one. She’s not really clear if the survey is something she has to do or if it’s just a choice - if it’s compulsory, it feels a bit like something out of Big Brother. On top of that, the person coming to see her didn’t say when exactly they'd turn up, just “sometime next week” on the papers. How is she meant to be home all day every day just waiting? Plus, she lives alone and is a bit wary about letting random blokes into her house, which is fair enough.

Kept ringing me repeatedly, and when I told them to stop, they were really rude about it.
