Got a call from the Office for National Statistics today, they just asked a couple of general questions, nothing personal. Seemed pretty straightforward to me.

Got a call from the Office for National Statistics a little while ago. They seem to ring up about once every few months to do a survey, and if you take part, they give you a £25 voucher as a thank you. They also use two other numbers: 08002985313 and 02392958174.

Honestly, they're just bullies who try to intimidate you with threats. No law says you have to talk to them, and you definitely won't get in trouble for ignoring their calls.

I recently received a letter inviting me to participate in a survey, and tucked inside was a £5 Love2shop voucher. I’m a bit sceptical, to be honest, as I've heard about counterfeit Love2shop vouchers circulating at the moment. Moreover, the letter claims to be on Her Majesty’s service-could that possibly be genuine? I'm really uncertain if this is all above board or just another scam. What do you reckon?

We've been receiving calls from these individuals at the strangest hours. Currently, we're on holiday and really don’t wish to pick up, as it could rack up quite the bill! What’s more, they don't leave a message on voicemail, which is quite frustrating.

I've frequently found ourselves on the x list for landlines, and since I'm on a pay-as-you-go mobile, I really can't fathom how these individuals manage to get hold of my number. It seems purely coincidental, doesn't it? I've designated this number as a do not respond on our device.

Could someone kindly shed some light on who this might be? Much appreciated!

ANONYMOUS 8TH DECEMBER 2016 - The correspondence from the OFFICE FOR NATIONAL STATISTICS comes across as rather overbearing. It reads, "you’ve been selected, your participation is irreplaceable; we appreciate your assistance with this research". Honestly, the ONS seems to overlook the fact that not everyone is keen on participating in an interview, particularly one initiated by an unfamiliar face at their doorstep. If there’s one thing that truly grinds my gears, it’s that air of superiority.

ANONYMOUS 8TH DECEMBER 2016 - I must admit, I've found the correspondence from the OFFICE FOR NATIONAL STATISTICS to be rather overstepping. The phrasing, "you have been selected, we cannot substitute you; we appreciate your assistance with this research," seems a tad presumptive. The ONS seems to overlook the fact that not everyone is inclined to engage in a discussion, particularly not with an unfamiliar face at their doorstep. If I were to voice a single concern, it would certainly be the unwarranted hubris.

Absolutely, ONS! And I've got to say, the folks I encountered were genuinely lovely as well.

These folks keep giving us a bell at the most inconvenient times. We're currently enjoying a holiday and have no intention of picking up, especially since it would really rack up the charges! Plus, they don't even bother leaving a message when it goes to voicemail. How frustrating!

There’s really no need to be concerned about these calls. They’re actually from the Office for National Statistics, and they’re simply seeking your participation in some national surveys. The individuals conducting the interviews are highly trained and go about their work in a polite manner. Often, they’ll even leave a voicemail after the very first ring to ensure you know who tried to get in touch with you.

Whoever this company may be, we want to make it abundantly clear that they seem to be employing what we perceive as downright scare tactics with regard to our father-in-law. We recommend that anyone who receives calls from them firmly tells them to cease their incessant ringing-though perhaps not as courteously as we've put it here! We're also quite keen to know if anyone else has faced similar unsolicited calls from this number!

We received a call from this number earlier today as well. Is there a possibility you’ve either submitted an application to the Open University or perhaps been seeking employment in Southampton? They’re the only ones we can think of that might have tried to get in touch with us.

We recently received a call from this number, and it turns out to be the Office for National Statistics, as many others have mentioned. The lady on the other end was exceptionally polite. When we explained that we were at work and couldn’t chat at the moment, she kindly asked when would be a suitable time for her to ring back, offering to accommodate our schedule. So, honestly, there’s no cause for concern regarding a call from this number.

Absolutely, I reckon this was from the Office for National Statistics. They’re decent to chat with, though they can be a tad time-consuming. It’s not a sales outfit or anything trying to peddle wares. Once you’ve given them the nod to participate in a survey, they can be a bit pushy. I suspect they operate based on a postcode sort of system or something similar.

I believe these folks are associated with the Office for National Statistics. I recently assisted them with their survey, and I must say, everyone I encountered was quite courteous. They do tend to leave messages and are more than willing to ring you back at a time that suits you better. Contributing to the survey made me feel like I was doing my part for the nation, and I would gladly assist them again in the future.

Absolutely, it's really frustrating! These folks just won’t take no for an answer, even after we've clearly said we're not interested in their survey. It's getting quite tiresome, to be honest!

Whoever this company is, we’d like to raise awareness about their rather alarming tactics that we believe border on virtual intimidation directed at our father-in-law. We strongly recommend that anyone experiencing similar nuisance calls from these individuals ought to tell them to stop - and not in the most civil manner either, if you catch our drift. We’re keen to find out if anyone else has had any unsolicited calls from this number!

Before picking up the phone, I did a quick search on this number and discovered it belongs to the Office for National Statistics. They're involved in conducting numerous surveys, and I recently participated in their labour force survey. I believe it's quite vital as it assists in collecting data that ultimately benefits the employment sector. Both my husband and I found them to be exceedingly courteous during the call. It's interesting how their statistics pop up nearly every day on television and in newspapers. They also handle the census, if I’m not mistaken. Just thought I’d share this info; hope it proves useful!

What’s the deal with this company? Just a heads up, they employ what can only be described as a proper scare tactic, particularly with our father-in-law. We strongly suggest folks tell them to stop calling-though perhaps not in the most courteous manner we’ve conveyed here. We’re simply curious if anyone else is also receiving persistent unsolicited calls from this number!

A mate of mine received a letter inviting her to participate in this ONS survey, and the phone number in question was listed in the documentation. She’s a bit in the dark about whether this survey is obligatory or just a request - if it's mandatory, it feels a bit like something out of a dystopian novel, doesn’t it? Plus, the person who’s meant to pop round and speak with her hasn’t specified a date or time; the paperwork just states "sometime next week". Is she expected to be on guard all week, waiting for someone to show up? On top of that, she’s understandably wary about letting some random official into her home, especially as a single lady living alone. It's quite concerning, really!

Continued annoyance. Quite impolite when I requested that they refrain from calling me anymore.
