I asked them politely to take my address and phone off their list, and they suddenly got really rude. They started asking if I was some kind of mechanic and what I’d do if my car broke down. I said yes, I am one and I’d just fix it myself, but then they acted all snobbish, questioning my skill level and even called me a liar.

He claimed he was from Haringey council and said they’d cleared the pathway or something, but I have no clue what he was on about. I’ve never given my landline to the council, so how on earth did he get my number? Seems really suspicious to me.

Got an email late last night, about 11.55pm, claiming to be from Barclays saying my minimum payment is due on 8th Nov. It also gave instructions on how to pay and how to arrange a direct debit. Thing is, I don’t owe anything as I use that card rarely and always pay off the full amount. Feels like my account might have been compromised or it’s a scam. I’ll be calling my branch to sort this out.

Got a call from this number saying there were suspicious transactions on my bank card. The person on the line sounded really convincing and had some of my details right, like my postcode, name, and the first few digits of my card, but then asked me to verify the rest of the card number. Felt a bit iffy about it and didn’t give anything away. Later I rang Barclays and found out it was a SCAM. Just be careful!

They rang me super late like around 3 or 4 am, I never pick up unknown numbers. A few days back they called and I actually answered just said hello, some bloke on the other end said hello back and it proper gave me the heebie jeebies so I hung up. Then they rang again straight after but I didn’t bother answering.

Got a text on my work phone from this number sayin “some of your post has been returned, pls call 0800 151 0900 to confirm your address or your card will be blocked.” No way this is genuine - 1. It’s my work mobile, not personal 2. They don’t even have my address anyway 3. I don’t hold any account with Barclays. Seems dodgy to me.

Got a text saying my credit limit with Barclaycard has gone up. The weird thing is, I don’t even have a Barclaycard. It told me to ring either 0333009090 or 08001510900. The numbers seem legit but I didn’t call as I’m pretty sure it’s a scam.

That’s Barclays customer service, you can actually find the number on their official site. I believe they operate from India but they’re totally genuine.

Got a text saying "delivery to your address failed. To keep you safe we'll block your card soon unless you get back to us". I rang them up but honestly, I haven’t moved or anything. It was about my credit card. No issues there at all.

I had a call from this number claiming to represent the European High Commission, conducting a survey about public services. It’s rather curious how they’re managing to fake a Barclaycard number. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a chat with this particular line; the last time they pretended to be someone else, though I can’t seem to recall who it was now!

I asked them why they required my email address since I prefer receiving paper statements and typically settle my bills through my bank. The phone number listed is the one above. Just wondering if this was a legitimate communication.

Barclays rang me to let me know about a new chat function on their banking app. The guy read out my old and current card numbers, plus two random digits from my sort code that I picked. They only asked for my date of birth and a couple of letters from my mum's maiden name as security checks. I phoned Barclays right after and they said the call was genuine.
