Over the past couple of months, we've gotten dozens of calls from this number and another one starting with 0144. We just let them ring off cos we've got call screening, but eventually our call log got totally stuffed.

I've been getting calls from 0800 118 5577 non-stop. I usually don’t answer, and if I do, I stay silent and they hang up right away. Today, they rang me from a hidden number, so I couldn't see who it was. I dialled 1471 afterwards and found out it was the same lot calling again.

They keep ringing me about washing machine insurance, but always use someone else’s name. I’ve told them loads of times to remove my number from their list, yet they still call me like 4 or 5 times every day. It’s really getting on my nerves now!

ABOUT 08001185577: I got tricked by a company calling themselves Appliance Guard into thinking I was setting up a standing order with my current insurer, which I wasn't. I believed I was dealing directly with my insurance provider. Then they sent a letter warning me about an upcoming Direct Debit being set up. I've been making it very clear to both them and my bank that I never consented to this. Their scam seems to rely on telling you that you're a loyal customer and somehow already having some of your banking info (no idea how they got it). CONTINUED.

Their header lists just 0800 and 0300 numbers along with emails, but no physical address. While they do have a website, the address they provide is actually shared by more than a thousand other businesses. Plus, they don’t show any assets or capitalisation, unlike many others on that list. Would you really trust such a company for insurance? Absolutely not. If they try to chase payment, I’m definitely reporting it as fraud. Keep an eye out for updates!

So, these guys didn't seem to know the special security word which struck me as odd. Plus, they kept messing up the name of their company, which made me suspicious right away. But still, looking back, I really messed up by giving out my bank info and address thinking it was some overseas company my insurance had hired. Now I'm panicking and trying to get hold of both my bank and insurance, even though it’s a holiday! Honestly, no idea why I gave them those details - I wasn’t thinking straight at all.

I’m quite suspicious about these calls. They said they were from the same company I already have an insurance policy through, and said they’d managed to get me some big cuts on my premiums. One sounded about right but the other was a bit of a shock. Oddly, they rang me on a bank holiday. I got at least three different callers, all with Asian accents, and their English wasn’t great. They seemed pretty confused about my personal info, getting things like the name on my account wrong, though they did quote my account number, which was a bit strange. CONT.

An elderly woman was being pestered with endless phone calls, which is really just harassment. It was all about some washing machine insurance - honestly, this kind of scam should be stopped immediately. What will they come up with next, I wonder?

I got my washing machine insurance cheaper since my mum's a pensioner. But honestly, their nagging was awful - really tough on older folks.

Me mum’s now got used to letting the answerphone pick up cos she’s been getting loads of annoying calls even tho she’s signed up with the telephone preference service. This particular number gave her a buzz 4 times just today and then dropped the call each time, and there was about the same amount of calls from a similar number the week before.

Non stop calls, really bugging this elderly lady. The second a man picks up, they just cut the line.

I didn’t catch the company name, all they said was something about my washing machine cover dropping to £7.99 a month and that they’d send a letter through. I checked the postcode they gave, and it didn’t match mine as I haven’t lived at that address for more than 20 years. When I told the lady this, she kept pressing me to give the right postcode. I asked her to read out exactly which address they had stored, but she just repeated theirs and said maybe her colleague entered it wrong. The signal was awful and she kept cutting out, so I ended up hanging up.

Got a call from 08001185577, some foreign bloke claiming to be from Domestic & General or something like that. Said my washing machine insurance needed renewing and that they had a discount for me. I asked him what brand my machine was, and he guessed completely wrong. Then I asked what my current premium was, and he said he didn’t know because it was someone else’s job! I just told him to get lost and he hung up on me straight away!

Some bloke called me saying his name was Derek, started going on about a washing machine price going up or something. Told him he was talking rubbish and just cut him off.

Got a call about some washing machine insurance being cheaper, they wanted my bank details and sort code which I didn’t give out. They kept ringing me up, asking for info. The woman said it was from Domestic & General but I’ve got a policy with them already and they’ve never reached out. D&G told me this isn’t the first time they’ve heard about this kind of call today.
