Just got a letter from these lot today, my IVA ended more than a year ago so they really shouldn’t still have my info since it’s been wiped from the credit bureau. Seen loads about this on Martin Lewis’s site too, honestly, feels like a proper scam!!!

This company sent me a letter so I gave them a ring, but every time I call, they just want me to leave a voicemail. It’s really stressing me out since they already have my phone number. Does anyone know what I should do next?

Funny thing, I almost gave this number a ring... Got a letter claiming some high court decision means I could get money back from my IVA. I was about to call since it’s a free number, but then it hit me - I moved 7 months ago and my IVA details are at my old place! Plus, they ask for a reference that isn’t even on the letter. Totally dodgy if you ask me!

this morning my other half got a letter from these lot, and luckily i looked it up before calling them back, so cheers for the heads-up!

Got a letter from this lot today, didn’t even bother calling, just shredded it and chucked in the bin. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

I shared info about businesses operating from that address, and their dispute with the IVA might be connected to a current legal case involving an IVA supervisor who allegedly took money even after the completion certificate was given. Naturally, the IVA firms are pushing back since this could potentially cost them a fortune. You can check out the court case details at the link below.

Have a look at the address - they don’t even mention CIO anywhere. The first two companies list SIC Code 1 as 78109, which is “Other activities of employment placement agencies”, but the third one has no category at all? None of it makes sense. The address is: 13TH FLOOR CITY TOWER, PICCADILLY PLAZA, MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, M1 4BT. There are three firms registered there: AUBURN ROSE LIMITED (Active), FOUNDATION RECRUITMENT UK LTD (Active), and ZHUOSNOWY LTD (Active). Something feels off about this setup.

Today I got a letter from them, so I thought I’d look them up online first. After seeing all the stuff others have said on this site, I’m just gonna shred the letter and throw it away. No way I’m reaching out to them now.

Got a letter just like the one mentioned before, full of errors from the start with my name misspelled. The website they gave doesn't even exist. Definitely staying well away from this sketchy stuff!

Did some digging about this company online after they sent me a letter saying they were from some consumer info office. They wanted me to sign up for a no win no fee deal over the phone. I asked if they could send something in writing but they wouldn’t, insisted it had to be done by phone only. Said I needed to think it over, then started looking them up properly. Pretty sure it’s a scam. Really concerned they might have some of my private details :(

Havent received any calls, just got a letter through. We went through an IVA and honestly feel a bit ripped off by the firm we dealt with. Might give them a ring, but theres no chance i'll be sharing any personal details with them.

regarding my recent IVA payment, I’m writing about getting a refund on some charges.

Today I got a letter similar to the ones talked about here. Something felt off so I tried looking up the website on the letter... turns out it’s not even a real site. Plus, there wasn’t any name under the signature and the letter had quite a few mistakes. I’m definitely not gonna get in touch with them. Feels like a total scam to me!

I got a letter like the one mentioned here from the Consumer Information Office (CIO). It said something like, "We’re writing because you might be entitled to a refund related to some legal fee you paid before, following a high court decision. It’s a bit tricky to explain over a letter, so please ring us up for more details." The letter included a freephone number 0800 098 7926 to call. But honestly, the way it’s worded seems off - I’m no language expert but it felt odd. Plus, like someone said in another comment, the opening hours were incorrect. There was no actual name signed at the bottom either. The website address they gave didn’t match the company name, and the address listed was for a firm called BESPOKE RETAINMENT LIMITED from 2016. Something about it just feels fishy to me.

Got a letter a while back saying we might be owed money from some past legal case because of a recent High Court decision. They said it’s a bit tricky to explain everything in the letter and asked us to call a certain number. Thing is, we never had any legal trouble before. Plus, the letter messed up by listing two different opening hours for Fridays, which was a bit confusing.

Got a letter through the post today. After seeing what people have said here, I’m definitely not going to call them.

Got a letter saying I’m owed money linked to some ‘previously settled legal matter’, but they won’t explain much in writing, just saying it’s ‘too complex’ and that I must ring them up. Apparently this is because of a ‘new High Court decision’. The Consumer Info Office website looks a bit sketchy and is pretty unclear. Feels dodgy to me, so I’m just ignoring it.

Today I gave them a ring and found out its a business... they handle repayments for folks who’ve had an IVA before. So if you’ve received one of those letters and have previously had an IVA, it’s worth calling them up - you might get some of your money returned.

Have you tried calling them? I got a letter like that not long ago, but after reading some stuff online, I’m not sure I should bother ringing them. I’ve just won a legal case myself, but this letter definitely feels fishy to me, like some kind of scam.

Got a letter just now from that CIO they talk about, didn’t sit well with me at all. Decided to look it up on the internet before doing anything, and glad I did. After seeing what others have said here, it seems like a total scam, probs linked to that phone number. Definately won’t be giving them a ring. All I can advise is, steer clear of them, folks.

Got a letter sayin that because of some high court ruling, I’ve gotta pay back some fees I already settled for a legal case that’s finished now. It’s all a bit complicated, so they said I should call them at 08000987926 to get things cleared up.

Got a letter saying I might have some money waiting for me and to give them a ring. Tried looking them up online at www.consumerinformationoffice.co.uk but couldn’t find anything about them anywhere. Then I looked up the address on the letter - City Tower, 13th Floor, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BT - and couldn’t locate any such company there either. Seems really suspicious to me!
