Got a call from a company claiming to offer a utility discount - they act as middlemen for multiple energy providers. They wanted my bank info to set up direct debit with a new supplier. Absolutely do NOT give it out! Heard about a vulnerable woman who had her details taken and she doesn’t even use any of those firms. Really disgraceful behaviour to target someone so vulnerable like that. Properly ashamed of them for doing this!

I received a message from this number, never called me, just texted, saying my energy provider EON is hiking their prices by £96! That sounds way off to me - EON wouldn’t suddenly jack up prices by that much at once, maybe a few quid, but certainly not near a hundred. It set alarm bells ringing straight away. Seems like they're trying to freak me out so I give away my info and get scammed. Nope, not falling for it. Lucky I looked into it before replying.

I just got a call saying I could 'switch and save on my energy bills' with this number to ring them back. Honestly, I’ve only just been out of hospital after having pneumonia and covid, and it's shocking this sort of thing is even going on!

It’s so frustrating getting loads of texts when I never asked for them in the first place. I reckon you might have to pay if you want to stop them? I’ve been caught out by those “opt-out” scams before and ended up getting charged a couple of pounds just to unsubscribe. Not entirely sure if this is the same deal, but I wouldn’t want to chance it myself.

I somehow ended up on the Utility Discount site by accident. Hardly had I closed the page than my phone was already ringing from them. I made it clear I wasn't interested, but then they started sending texts. Quite annoying!

It's not really a scam, just some salespeople ringing you up. If you're thinking about switching energy suppliers, you can easily do it yourself on the internet. And if they pushed you into signing or agreeing to something, you've got a 14 day period to back out of the contract.

So this energy company from London kept texting me, and if you reply with 'stop' it actually charges you! Best thing is to block the number instead. I've had a few calls off 08000821206, and it's telling me to text YYCBJSTOP to stop messages, but that never seems to do the trick. Calling the number back just connects you to Green Star Energy. Bit cheeky, really. I told them to stop ringing me since I used to be their customer, but the bills got way too high. Plus, every time I phoned them, I got a completely different response about the same issue - very frustrating. I’ve switched over to Octopus now as they’re highly rated by Which, and honestly, they’re brilliant.
