I told him I wasn’t sure if it was a scam and didn’t feel comfortable giving access. He snapped back, “But you rang me first!” I told him I’d check his employee details before calling back if it was genuine. Needless to say, it wasn’t. They even spouted loads of details about my setup and claimed my whole network was compromised. Then they asked for a hefty £450 to sort it and another £150 for each device after that. When I told him I had no idea who he was, he just brushed it off and kept ordering me on how to connect him to my machine. I told him there’s no way I’m letting some random stranger access my computer, and maybe he needs a reality check. Then he just hung up. I called the number back but didn’t give my own number at first. They asked for it, said it was in case the call got dropped. I said I'd just ring back myself if that happened. Then they insisted on my number and told me to press some keys so they could take over my PC remotely. I ended the call there, ran a full Kaspersky scan, which cleared everything, and then finally managed to shut the window without any issues.
