He requested remote access to my computer, but I wasn’t comfortable handing that over, thinking it might be a scam. When I expressed my concerns, he got a bit angry, saying, "Well, you’re the one who called me!" I told him I’d confirm his employee ID and would get back to him if everything checked out. To no one’s surprise, it didn’t seem legitimate. When I pointed out that I hadn't the foggiest who he was, he completely brushed aside my concerns, relentlessly instructing me on how to connect him to my device to supposedly rectify the situation. I made it abundantly clear that there was no way I’d let a total stranger gain access to my computer-he needed a dose of reality, if you ask me! He then promptly hung up. I’d strongly advise anyone who receives a similar call to ensure their systems are secure with a reputable antivirus like Kaspersky and make sure to inform your internet service provider about the incident. They insisted I phone this number so they could 'resolve' the issue, adding that shutting down the window would lead to Microsoft allegedly blocking my system. I was subjected to relentless verbal alerts, which made my skin crawl. I eventually called the number (with my number hidden, mind you) and was immediately asked for my phone number. When I inquired about why they needed it, they said it was in case the call got disconnected. I told them I’d rather ring them back if that happened. They insisted on having it and then instructed me to press a series of keys for them to gain control of my computer. This set off alarm bells, and I promptly hung up.
