Don’t bother replying, it’s an automated caller. If you do respond, it just confirms your number’s active and it'll likely end up being shared for more spam calls. This seems to be the initial step in their scam process - once they verify your number works, they start ringing from different numbers with all sorts of dodgy stories to test if you’ll fall for it. I got calls on a brand new SIM card, never used it anywhere or given it out, and I even divert my main phone to it to dodge call costs. So far, I’ve received messages like “This is Microsoft, your computer’s been hacked,” which is laughable as I’m strictly Mac and Linux. Then there was a ‘bank issue’ call, followed by a one about PPI, and even a weird one claiming I’d been in a car accident. Just stay clear and don’t respond, it’s all just a trap to confirm your line’s live.
