I got a call from some woman called Lauren, said she was from Liverpool. The call barely lasted five seconds before she picked up, and when I asked her why it was so quick she said it was just a delay. When I asked if this was a cold call, she seemed confused and asked what I meant by that. I said did I ask for this call, and she said no.

This person rang me saying they want to check that rented homes and council properties are kept in good condition. They actually called my mobile and asked for me by name - which made me uneasy - but their accent was so hard to catch that it kinda backfired on them.

Honestly, just hang up immediately! Make sure you report these to the fraud squad. This bloke was saying 10% of my rent was already sent to them and that I’d be getting a cheque in 6-8 weeks, plus claims about fitting an alarm and air purifier. When I told him he sounded sketchy, he got really pushy. I just hung up and came here to look up the number. No wonder there’s loads of bad reviews. Totally a scam! Best to block and move on straightaway.

I received a call on my mobile the other day from someone claiming they were reaching out to check on the upkeep of rented or housing association properties. She asked me to get in touch with the council to see if there was a certificate proving the work had been completed. I got a call from a woman who said she was with the housing disrepair team. When I asked her the reason for calling, she said they’re getting in touch with all tenants of the council and housing associations about damage caused by the recent storm. I told her I’m an owner, not a tenant, so why’s she ringing me? Then she just hung up. Since I actually work for the housing dept in the local council, I can tell you this isn’t legit at all. Sounds like a scam to me - best to steer clear!

I'm pretty sure this was a scam. Someone called claiming to be from the housing and social care department, saying they were contacting all council and housing association tenants. When I mentioned I wasn’t part of that group, they started asking loads of personal stuff. I just told them they’d got the wrong number and ended the call.
