I found myself confronted by an alarming full-screen message, warning of viruses and trojans. No matter what I tried, I couldn't seem to shift it. Out of desperation, I dialled the number provided, and to my surprise, a voice merely said “hello” followed by claiming to be from Microsoft when I pressed for details. Given my laptop was essentially out of action until I could wipe it clean, I allowed them to remotely access my device. They then pointed out what they claimed were the issues and offered to sort everything out, including antivirus installation, for £64. Naturally, I turned down the offer; however, I must say, there wasn't any aggressive sales pitch afterwards, which suggests they’re adapting their tactics. I’ve since had the laptop completely overhauled.

I received a message indicating that my computer had been locked because of some suspicious activity and instructed me to call 0800 046 5252. When I did, the person on the other end simply answered with a "hello," and I couldn’t make out what they were saying. Thankfully, I managed to get out of the situation.

My laptop screen suddenly lit up with a bright red background and some bloke speaking in an American accent telling me to call a certain number and warning me not to shut the page. I ended up switching to my desktop to investigate further. Luckily, thanks to your advice, I managed to force quit with Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Ran a malware scan after and it didn’t detect anything suspicious. The caller supposedly said they were from Microsoft.

I found myself in a bit of a pickle when my computer suddenly locked up. A message popped up, urging me to call a helpline for Microsoft at 0800 046 5252. Naturally, I was suspicious, so I hopped onto another device to verify this so-called Microsoft number. Turns out, it was a complete scam! The genuine Microsoft team assured me that 0800 046 5252 is not affiliated with them at all. Thankfully, they helped me get my computer back up and running. What a relief!

What a dreadful scam!
My computer completely froze up when I accessed a certain site.
I was greeted by a pre-recorded message insisting that I had a trojan, and that my device was locked.
They prompted me to ring 08000465252 for assistance, pretending to be a Microsoft support line.
The wording in the message was quite poorly constructed.
I quickly pressed Ctrl, Alt, and Del to escape the nightmare, and thankfully, I’ve had no issues since!

Don't bother calling 0800 046 5252, they're not from Microsoft at all. It's actually some dodgy outfit called Everybiz Solutions trying to trick you into paying by locking your computer. If you want to report them, give the Action Fraud line a bell on 0300 123 2040 instead.

I just had a rather alarming message pop up on my laptop, demanding my username and password while insisting that the device is riddled with a spyware infection. What a nuisance!

Got a message on my computer claiming to be from Microsoft, saying there was some kind of security problem. Thought it sounded dodgy but I called the number anyway (yes, not my smartest move). Luckily, I soon realised something was fishy and ended the call. No doubt it was a scam.

Be careful, this is definitely a SCAM. They send malware to mess up your laptop so it won’t work properly. Don’t believe it has anything to do with Windows. They just want to steal your money. Total rip-off. - caller: SCAM, NOT WINDOWS

In a panic, I ended up ringing them back after they locked my laptop. I was a right mug and even typed in the code they asked for. Now I’m seriously worried about what I’ve let them get into. Please, don’t ever fall for this trap!

It’s a dodgy computer virus scam! Steer clear of it. Your device is absolutely alright, so don’t bother ringing them up.
