Yesterday, I found myself in a right pickle after being hacked. While browsing Pinterest, I received a bizarre message claiming I must have visited a dodgy website of some sort. Ridiculous, as I certainly haven’t! Now they’re demanding close to £300 to regain access. They can shove that idea where the sun doesn't shine!

I had a rather alarming message pop up on my laptop, claiming that my computer had been compromised by someone from abroad. There was a phone number provided, and foolishly, I gave it a ring only to be told there would be a fee to resolve the issue. When I mentioned needing to consult with someone before proceeding, they promptly terminated the call. Naturally, I decided to investigate the number afterwards and discovered it was listed as a scam. What a palaver!

I’ve encountered some suspicious behaviour with this number. I reached out initially, but then received a call back from a mobile instead. It’s definitely raising some red flags for me. I really need to get this number barred from my contacts!

I've found myself in a similar predicament, and now my computer has shut down completely. Can anyone suggest a way to power it back up without having to resort to those pesky scammers again?

I gave that number a ring, and when I inquired whether he was genuinely from Microsoft Technical Support, he cheekily replied, "I'm a technician, not a magician." That was enough for me to disconnect the call straight away.

I had a bit of a nightmare with my laptop earlier today. My antivirus claims everything's secure, so I'm guessing it's just a dodgy scam, especially considering the awful grammar in that warning that popped up. However, I'm still a bit stumped on how to get rid of this pesky issue from my computer just yet.

Earlier today, I stumbled across an advertisement on my computer, leading me to dial a number, where I conversed with a lady who had an Eastern European accent. She somehow got remote access to my machine and pitched a story about needing Windows support to deal with pesky hackers-apparently, she claimed to be affiliated with them. After asking for my email, she then suggested she could cleanse my system of these threats, but at a cost of £299 for one device or £399 for five, all under a so-called lifetime guarantee. Skeptical, I started moving my mouse around, which clearly irritated her, as she insisted that I stop. At that point, I decided to end the call. Subsequently, I've had my internet security checked, and they assured me that a virus was neutralised and my computer is now safe. Should I be concerned about anything else?

I encountered a message on my HP laptop that raised my suspicions. My security software has assured me that my device is secure, yet the notification insists I should ring this number due to a supposed theft of my personal information. It certainly feels like a scam to me!

I encountered a similar issue today; does anyone know how I can get rid of it? Cheers!

I've come across this number, and it's definitely dodgy. It managed to lock up my screen and is clearly trying to extort money if you dare to ring them back. I've flagged this number with the authorities, and I'm in the process of seeking legal counsel regarding a potential compensation claim against whoever is behind this. They’ve used malware to freeze my computer unlawfully, which is downright illegal. Once I receive more guidance on pursuing legal action against them for their unscrupulous behaviour, I’ll return here to share my findings. It seems they're operating under fraudulent pretences, and the suggestion is that there’s a whiff of blackmail about them - if you don’t pay up, your screen remains locked. These are just a few of the options I’m currently assessing for my forthcoming claim against these scam artists.

They attempted to gain access to my computer and whatnot. However, the device refuses to boot up thanks to their advertisements.

Be wary of any calls claiming to be from Windows; it's a scam! Avoid dialling that free 800 number at all costs!
