Pretty much what everyone’s been saying! It’s probably one of those bank or credit card scams. I got a call about six months back with the same number. I even rang the bank using the number on the back of my card to double-check and they said it was definitely a scam. Usually, the bank just blocks your card if there’s any suspicious activity anyway.

Natwest stopped some dodgy payments from going through. After a quick chat, we both agreed that I couldn't really tell if the call was legit or not. So I phoned the number on the back of my card and ended up spending about 15 more minutes dealing with security checks and waiting around. All in all, glad I picked up the call. Even if this really is a NatWest number (which I suspect it might be since I got a couple missed calls from it and a letter arrived too) you should never fully trust anyone saying they’re from your bank. It’s way too easy for scammers to fake the caller ID. So this might be the real NatWest fraud team’s number, but it could also be fraudsters spoofing it to look like NatWest. If anyone calls asking for your personal info, just hang up and ring a confirmed number you trust - like the one on NatWest’s official site or the back of your card.

This is actually Natwest fraud team. Like the person who commented back in April 2016, I also thought this might be a scam so I hung up and called NatWest directly using the number on my bank statement. They told me it was an official pre-recorded message about unusual activity on my account. We went over the transactions together and found no sign of fraud in my case. I’d really recommend that if you think this is dodgy, don’t just ignore it. Call NatWest using the number on your statement and ask for fraud team instead. You might not be as lucky as me, so better to be safe and double check.

It turned out there WAS some suspicious activity on my account. The woman I spoke to told me scammers are actually spoofing NatWest’s real number to trick people.
